Re: Really hating this program right now

Hi Keith, Fair enough, I suppose. Part of the reasoning for my adding support to the earlier suggestion for Advanced and Simple preferences was my taking into account you saying: I would be perfectly happy to get rid of about 75% of the preferences to make them simpler, seeing as a few users do seem...

Re: Really hating this program right now

Yes, the Subject of this thread got my attention. I was curious to see what there was to seriously "hate" about this application, or to bring about hate of the entire application. I've read through a lot of the posts with interest and much humour. Delighted to see such a diversity of self-...

Re: Export outlines just as OPML

Thanks Keith, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain that. Very helpful. I can much better understand the challenge involved when you look at coding for Scriv to export OPML. It sounds to me like OPML seriously needs more thought and development by those who oversea it as a standard. For...

Re: Export outlines just as OPML

Hi, No, I'm afraid not. The problems remain - OPML export is still off in the future because of the way most programs use the non-standard "_notes" attribute in a way that the Cocoa NSXML classes don't work well with. All the best, Keith :? I'll have to take your word on that one Keith......

Re: Export outlines just as OPML

Hi Keith, I am in the process of transferring another one of my books from its initial plan in a mind-mapping tool, over to Scrivener for the serious writing work. :?: I was wondering if there has been any progress with Scriv having full OPML Export functionality? I'd love to be able to keep my mind...

Re: Looking for writing project tracking app

Inspired, You could build an amazing project tracker with Tinderbox (http://www.eastgate.com/Tinderbox/). Thanks Linn, I have briefly checked out Tinderbox. Looks like it may have a fairly significant learning... Seems like a powerful application though, with many possibilities. I'll perhaps look a...

Re: Looking for writing project tracking app

Thanks Hugh and Druid, I have Bento 3, but almost never use it... so won't be upgrading to v4. I did look at the description of the template called Story Base you linked to (Hugh... thank you), and I get the impression it's for actually writing in... much in the way Scrivener is for. If that is the ...

Re: Looking for writing project tracking app

I know I'm missing something here, but I keep thinking you could do this with a spreadsheet or filemaker. Also, as I said earlier, Omnifocus can be set up for any type of goal you want, and it syncs into iCal which will nag at you, if you want that. If you're looking for a way to reward and motivat...

Re: I'd like to suggest: More comprehensive progress tracking

Keith, Indeed… if all the word count data is exposed via AppleScript then this would most likely do the trick. I have no idea how Excel interfaces with A/S (if at all), but certainly something could be whipped up with Apple Numbers. I look forward to it… Later in the year I may end up entering the w...

Re: Looking for writing project tracking app

Have you looked at this comparison list? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_project_management_software Thanks Druid, If you know of any particular application on that list that is suitable for something as simple as tracking WPM, deadlines, and progress on writing projects please let me kn...

Re: Looking for writing project tracking app

Do you have one of those little Official Tomato Timers? :) I've always wanted one, even though I work better in a slightly longer interval than 25m. 8) Nope… I'm all digital. I have Pomodoro on my Mac, and also a pomodoro timer on my ipod touch. On the mac I am tending now to use either Vitamin-R o...

Re: Scrivener for Mac 2.0.5 Now Available

Hi KB,
Just a heads-up to say that the tooltip for the download links over at http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.php is still showing 2.0.4 in it.

Re: I'd like to suggest: More comprehensive progress tracking

And just to clarify, I wasn't saying that any of your other ideas were bad regarding tracking, of course. It was just that I would rather keep Scrivener's targets a little simpler, and I think your ideas would make a great standalone application, something that could plug in to the OS X text system...

Re: Looking for writing project tracking app

Thanks for your understanding, Inspired, and for clarifying with good humour, it's appreciated. :) Thanks KB. I am happy we're on good terms. I think your software rocks... extremely so. :D Blimey, that's a lot of words! Technically I can write that many words mechanically, but when composing, what...
