More Touch Bar Options

For a future update, I would love to see more options available for the Touch Bar for the fiction writer. At the moment, the available buttons are very limited. There are only two that are of any use: styles and highlight. Most fiction writers, surely, aren't colouring text, adding lists, adding ima...

Text Autoreplace Not Working Properly in Keywords Pane or in Body Text

I think this may be a Scrivener bug as the text auto-replace works perfectly in all other apps. I have an auto-replace set up in System Preferences so that when I type five minuses together, it's replaced with a solid line: Screenshot 2020-03-11 at 09.59.51.png However, auto-replace behaves differen...

Re: What is the ideal size for the composer background texture?

Posted a suggestion to have a tick box to stop the background tiling and got a great response from Silverdragon about this: Here's a possible workaround : Remove the texture background from Preferences. Then go to Project->Project Settings...->Background Images. Set the Composition Mode background t...

Re: Compose Window Texture Background

OMG Silverdragon, that works like a charm!

I wish I'd known that option was there before. Not only do I fight on getting it to stop tiling, I change the background every time I open the particular book I'm working on (as I write more than one at a time).

You've saved me so much time, thank you!

Compose Window Texture Background

For a future update, I would love the option to tile or not to tile an image in a Texture Background. It's really frustrating to have to try dozens of image sizes until you get it to the size where it won't tile and fills the screen. It would be sooooooooooooooo much nicer to have a lovely little ti...

Re: What is the ideal size for the composer background texture?

I don't know whether this will help anyone in the long run but, after A LOT of trial and error, I finally had success with the following: 16" Display Resolution: 3072 x 1920 Image Size: 3605 x 2245 I thought just setting the image size to match the resolution would work but it didn't. I needed ...

Re: Track Changes

And another nudge to see if anything's changing in the foreseeable. Like many users, I have to abandon Scrivener the moment my MS goes to my editor. Copy editing requires a series of back and forths as she makes changes and comments with suggestions for others. I make more changes by implementing he...

Feature Request - Improving Find and Replace

I posted this in technical support but have no answers, because I think it's a feature issue, hence posting again here. It would be great to do a regular expression search and replace within Scapple. Scapple does not appear to use macOS's built-in text find and replace, NSTextFinder. If it did, you ...

Using Wildcards in Find & Replace

Hi! I'm using Scapple as a mind map for a character outline. To define this character's characteristics and behaviours (a complex coercive controller/abuser), I'm pulling paragraphs from study books in Kindle. Which means A LOT of cutting and pasting from Kindle to Scapple. The problem is that every...

Try right clicking on the Index Card, select Layout Orientation, and make sure it's set to Horizontal and not Vertical.

In the Section Layouts in the compiler, choose the Suffix tab and put the required number of carriage returns in there.

Re: Capitalizing attribution tag after question mark in quote.

Scrivener gets this right but Mac OS doesn't. In the Scrivener Corrections preferences, ensure you have 'Fix Capitalization of Sentences' checked. But then, click the option for the System Text Preferences and make sure Capitalize Words Automatically is turned off. This should solve the problem with...

Re: Spelling check

Hi Maelduin, I've been having similar problems with the checker myself. See my post: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=56122 Scrivener uses the built in spelling and grammar of Mac OS, and it's likely your problem is there. I shut everything down and did a full reboot a...

Re: Hover over grammar link not working

Bit of a delayed response - took ages to get around to it - but a clean install did fix the problem. I'm still having inconsistencies with spelling and grammar - as per other posts - but it seems the OS is a bit squiffy in this regard, clearly not a Scrivener issue.

Thanks!

Re: Inconsistencies With Spelling and Grammar

Discussed this with AmberV in another post. When trying to fix an issue with the Corkboard, spelling and grammar stopped working altogether! Apparently, this is a MacOS bug. A quick reboot has solved the problem for now, but apparently, it will keep coming back, along with inconsistencies with keybo...
