scrivener with dual monitor setup

Hi ... I'm a mid-lvl user and I've searched the forums but can't find an definitive answer. Essentially I'm trying to take full advantage of my dual monitor / screen setup. I want to have two windows of the same project open simultaneously so that I can view / reference one file while writing in ano...

Sure Greg, go ahead and post if you wish... I always enjoy a little tinkering. :)

Thanks again

Re: opml export missing text (scrivenings)

Thanks for your extensive reply Greg. I'll give your tab-indented tip a go but wait on the xml stuff. Let me just add that I like to use the OPML import/export with mind-mapping during the early stages of writing when I am trying to tinker between the outline stage and pre-draft stage. For this I li...

Re: opml export missing text (scrivenings)

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about XML editing. I wonder if there might be other mind-mapping apps that successfully interpret the full text contents of Scrivener's OPML export, or a script/converter that could make the necessary XML edits for me?

opml export missing text (scrivenings)

Hello I am trying to get OPML export to include the full text of my scrivener project rather than only the headings. I have tried the different export options (tic-boxes) but nothing seems to work. Each time I open the OPML file in Mindnode it's missing the body text (paragraphs). What am I doing wr...

Scapple crashing on Mavericks

Scapple 1.1 on Mavericks has been crashing when I try to copy or save to a new file format. Why and what can do about it? Cheers.

import with hierarchical outlines (OPLM alternatives)

OPML is great but many apps still do not use it. I am looking for importing advice for OPML workarounds that still retain the same hierarchical outline structure in the binder. Adding a manual character separator (#) to the tabbed rtf file and using the import & split command seems to be the onl...

Splitting the Binder view horizontally?

Hi - I have a large project and wonder if there is any way to split the binder view horizontally. I would like to be able to move items around more easily when the folder structure is expanded. Perhaps there is some way of using the Collections feature but I haven't found it.

Thanks.

Re: mac quick look to view links as floating panels

Thanks. It sounds like I'll have to tinker a little more with the compile fade settings. I think I could produce what I'm looking for if I set up a dedicated extra desktop view with a black background (or a second screen) and have compose open up on that but with no fade. That way I can view the DT ...

Re: mac quick look to view links as floating panels

Hi and thanks for the reply. I think I found a temporary workaround but first I'll try to exemplify further. If I'm writing in Scrivener's compose mode and click a previously pasted/copied url link from DT then the DT doc window opens (as you note) which I can then resize and place beside the compos...

mac quick look to view links as floating panels

I just posted in the tech support section but it occurred to me that this is a feature request as well. Here is my scenario: I want to copy/drag text clippings from outside scrivener (e.g. stored in DT Pro) and have Scrivener create a new doc (scrivenings?) from the clip with a url link back to the ...

Re: Can I link in project A to a document in project B?

Hi , I have a similar question (posting in this thread along with the main thread to attract more views.) I want to copy/drag text clippings from documents stored in DT Pro and have Scrivener create a new doc (scrivenings?) from the clip with a url link back to the DTP file, preferably DTP's "C...

Devonthink & Scrivener - linking text as scrivenings

Hi folks I want to copy/drag text clippings from documents stored in DT Pro and have Scrivener create a new doc (scrivenings?) from the clip with a url link back to the DTP file, preferably DTP's "Copy Item Link" for a permanent link. I especially like the new feature of writing in compose...
