Re: iOS Update

Best wishes to Jen. Welcome to Tammy! Bummer on the iPad 1 exclusion, even though I understand. I've waited so long for the iOS version that my machine is no longer valid. :( But my internal optimist (eternal?) tells me iOS Scriv may be a valid excuse for obtaining a newer model. :) Cheers, Casey

Re: Writing Resolutions for 2013??

So this guy, Tony Pisculli at hawaiishakes.org, created a spreadsheet for writers to develop more consistent writing habits. It's awesome. I found it on Mur Lafferty's site murverse.com. Because I love messing with spreadsheets, I thought I'd create a version. And now I'm sharing it with you. Put in...

Re: Turkey day

I saw on an insurance commercial that something like 15 homes burned down last year because of people attempting to deep fry their turkeys. While that's a pretty small percentage... it's still a percentage. :D

Re: Writing a novel with Scrivener - David Hewson's new ebook

Thank you David, for the book, blog and Scrivener template. While possibly not what you imagined, I have taken advice from another short book - this one specifically on plotting - and used it in companion with yours to derive a Scrivener system that has really worked for me. The "other" bo...

Re: An iOS discovery

Hey Charlie, Reading this reminded me that I had one of these keybaords, so I dug it out and am typing on it right now. Not much to add except that I do have one of those doc keyboards, and as far as feel, there's nothing like it. I can probably type faster and with less fatigue than on any other ke...

Re: Learning to Write Compelling Stories from Angry Birds

I love Angry Birds. 3 stars on all 700 or so levels. When a new batch of levels comes through the App I get all warm and fuzzy inside. Just talking about it makes me want to play it again. Here's the thing. When I'm playing a "mindless" game like AB, it's simple enough that I get to think ...

Re: Just gave up on Scrivener

I presume ZAGG/mate is a type of coffee? Rarely do I actually laugh out loud. But this time, LOL! If I had unlimited funds I'd probably invest in a MacBook Air. (I laugh at myself for using the word invest.) That is basically a small, solid state computer. To me, that would be the ultimate writing ...

Re: Just gave up on Scrivener

But I've come to terms with it now, and see it for what I suspect was Apple's original plan: it's a computer for people who don't need a computer (like my mum, for example). Maybe a bit of web browsing (as long as you don't need Flash, of course), maybe a few games and a media center. But not somet...

Re: Strangest Places You Write

At some bus stop shelter in Northeast Portland with a fold-out keyboard and a Palm Pilot perched on a dictionary. I guess the point being, "wherever it needs to happen". :) Which makes me wonder if there are many actual writing rooms left. We all seem to writing everywhere but at a great ...

Re: Steve Jobs Dead at 56

"I think half the world found out about his death on an Apple device," said Robbie Sokolowsky, 32, an employee for an online marketing company, who lit a candle outside the store. Hyperbole though it may be, that about says it. I'm one of those that found out on an Apple device... iSad. i...

Re: Strangest Places You Write

I had to look up what a Smythson notebook was. Beautiful.

And a big giant stadium has some serious possibilities, although I'm not sure about comfort. Depends on where you plant yourself. This from a guy who wrote on the floor for several months. :)

Strangest Places You Write

The previous back and forth with Amber raised my curiosity about where other writers write and what they use to create. We live in a time where mobile devices allow us to write almost anywhere. Of course that has almost always been true for those of us who prefer pen and paper. But it seems that now...

Re: Kindle uses for writers

No, I got what was being talked about, thanks. That's why I said further. No reason to have different mobile machines to do writing and proofing that I can see, so use the machine that offers both. That was my point. I just think of all the options to use for writing, editing, and proofing in a mobi...
