Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

I hardly know where to start on that, so I won't attempt most of it ... Point 3, Apple has been 100% clear that it has no intention of going the single OS route that Microsoft has taken because it believes the two platforms have different roles. Points 5-7, this is nonsense, iPads do support the RTF...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

If there were no history, I'm sure Keith would provide an ETA. But having been bitten on the ass by doing so previously, I'm not surprised he's being vague this time around.

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

The problem is, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

A lot of people are pissed off because they were told to expect the iPad version by now and don't have it, while others – like you – are pissed off because he's learned that lesson and is now saying little until it's actually ready.

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

Yep, if you want bare-bones iOS syncing, there's no need to reinvent the wheel. I use PlainText:

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

Scaled-up would be horrible, though, and I'm not sure the resolution-independent approach (really just designed to cope with the relatively small differences between recent-model iPhone screens) would be any better given that much difference. Fair point on the keyboard – I'll have to give one an ext...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

I can't comment on the rubber keyboard as I've never used it. I use the Brydge keyboard with my iPad, which is very similar to the MacBook Air/Pro keyboards. The 12-inch MacBook keyboard has almost zero travel. We can definitely agree on one thing: try before you buy ...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

The new Macbook 12" is actually lighter than the iPad 2 (even without the external keyboard), and it's the same size as the Macbook Air 11" (its actually slightly narrower and slightly deeper). Yes, it's more expensive than an iPad or an Macbook Air, but if the finances stretch to it, it'...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

Your honesty does you credit and is appreciated, Keith. And yes, Dropbox sync is something you definitely want to get right!

Shame about Nano, but I've decided to do it from home this year anyway, so no great hardship for me.

Best of luck!

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

Knowing how Apple tends to work things, I'll wager that supporting the iPad Pro resolution is optional – that any app can be released and work just fine on the big new screen, even if it doesn't take top advantage of the real estate Well, it would run, but – like an iPhone app run on an iPad in 2x ...

Re: Scrivener for iOS - When?

Thirded. I know you may be reluctant to offer an ETA given your past history of doing so, but we promise not to stamp our feet if the date is missed, it would just be useful to know the current expectation.

Re: Scrivener on 11" MacBook Air

IHowever, now that there is the new MadBook 12" with Retina display that is even lighter (and not much bigger) than the MBA 11", I'd definitely go for that one Don't order one without trying the keyboard. It's very short-travel, to enable the extreme thinness, and personally I think it's ...

Re: Word counts including annotations when told not to

Ah, I didn't know that was clickable! That definitely helps. A running count in the current document only, without the need to click, would still be lovely, though. :D

Re: Word counts including annotations when told not to

While understanding the difficulties of keeping project totals updated, could I put in a feature request for a way to exclude annotations from the current document only? I've actually started using Scrivener for my articles as well as novels, as it's a handy 'database' of them, and colour-coded labe...
