Claustrophobic titles in Binder

I'm playing with the Scrivener trial, so I don't know if this is fixed in the regular version: When I do a split and the binder shows the new document title field, it's a very TIGHT space to type in the title. You can hardly see the writing, as it's squished in a window that's too small (seems its j...

Re: Most efficient way to mport lots of old journal entries?

Well you can just drag in files by the bulk and drop them in the binder. If you drag a folder, all of the items beneath it will be imported as well. Thanks Amber. I've not quite gotten the hang of import vs. drag to view temporarily, but dragging my folder to Scrivener will certainly make the proce...

Re: Most efficient way to mport lots of old journal entries?

Also, if you haven't discovered it yet, there's a feature that makes splitting up your documents (by daily entry in your case) very easy. Look under Documents->Split-> There are two options there that should be fairly obvious as to their utility, and their keyboard shortcuts should be displayed rig...

Most efficient way to mport lots of old journal entries?

The title pretty much sums it up. The impetus for me was that since the main purpose of accessing my old journals at this time in my life is to add interest to my life stories, it made sense to go ahead and put them in Scrivener, where the rest of my Life Story Project material is located. My entrie...

Re: Scrivener for keeping a diary

Fortiboz, Thanks for the further info. on working with your template. It worked just fine, and I've decided to give it a try, even if I just copy/paste each month from a text file. In addition I'm going to import my old journal entries. The impetus for me was that since the main purpose of accessing...

Re: Scrivener for keeping a diary

Fortiboz, ..and you seem to have done just that! Thanks! :) Now if only I could figure out how to use it.. I downloaded, unzipped, and the resulting file is called "dailyjournal.scrivtemplate". How do you open this file, or do you need to manually place it within your scrivener f...

Re: Scrivener for keeping a diary

Hi Mark. Thanks for the response. I might be able to get away with using scrivener on my work pc but I'm not willing at this point to spend the money just to experiment with using Scrivener for journaling. Otherwise I wouldn't use it for anything else since I don't have a writing job. I do have Ever...

Re: Scrivener for keeping a diary

Hi Brandy, Sorry for the late response! I did try to search for it, but had no luck as I suspected. I've also decided to stick with my rich text files because I do so much of my journaling at work- both just writing direct, and also copy/pasting posts from FB, emails etc. If I had a companion progra...

Re: convert ALL comments to footnotes??

Martin,
Thanks for the reply. I experimented a bit more and was able to get the comments to show up on a pdf as inline text. That's fine for my purposes.

convert ALL comments to footnotes??

Hi all, I have been merrily plugging along, working on my father's life stories in Scrivener, and have thoroughly enjoyed the learning process. I love having the tutorial open as well, and have referred to it and/or the internet many times when a question comes up about how to do something with the ...

Re: Combine Different projects into one?

Hugh,
Thanks for the quick response. I like both ideas for different reasons. How would I drag and drop a document from one project to another if I can only see one project at a time in Scrivener?

Combine Different projects into one?

My primary use for Scrivener currently is for my own life story, as well as my father's and stories from other family members. Some day down the line, I can see myself wanting to "compile" them into one large document. Is it possible to do this from within Scrivener - to, in essence, "...

extracting document templates for use in existing project

I would like to be able to take one or more of the document templates contained within the project templates and "copy them" into my own "blank template" project. Is there a way to do this? Can you have two projects opened in the program at once, or is there a way to "export...
