Re: File Export only writes RTF files

It must be that the Java converter doesn't kick in regardless of the IMport preferences because even the importing is wrong. This wasn't the case in the previous version (2.4.x?). I don't have an antivirus in this computer and I reinstalled Java just in case. I'm not sure how to test if Java is work...

Re: File Export only writes RTF files

Turning off the enhanced converter creates the files I want. They are of a poorer quality than the enhanced converter but for the time being it works.

I have an iMac running Mavericks.

Re: File Export only writes RTF files

I did some more testing, so I hope these observations help: - I can choose any format if I'm exporting one file at a time - I can export multiple files using the FDX format - I cannot export multiple files (a selection of documents or a folder) using the doc/docx/odt format - The location of the fol...

File Export only writes RTF files

I have one folder in my binder with files I need to export to the doc format. I choose all files, click on File/Export. These are all text files. Regardless of the format I choose (DOC, DOCX, ODT) the exporter always produces RTF. (I know RTFs are almost universal but the people I need to send them ...

Re: Formatting Books with Word

I think that the ribbon is a huge improvement for using styles because of the large clicking areas. The way to invoke style sheets and customize them from the ribbon is also good. Now, they made the feature much more accessible, but I wish they could make style changes behave in consistent and predi...

Re: Feedback Wanted: How do you structure your Scriv projects?

I voted, but I wanted to voice my opinion about compiling because I doubt that the summary window will be of much help to me. Gruber posted a day ago about how Fantastic lets you see real time the translation of natural language syntax into a calendar entry, and how that implementation is way superi...

Re: Folding Text

Export is a disappointment to me too. I expect it to improve, but it seems that markdown support is not excellent, I found problems in html and printing. The concept is neat. I hope they "fold" footnotes and incorporate multimarkdown in the future, but it seems it's evolving more into a ge...

Re: Final Draft Writer for iPad

The problem with pricing in the iPad is that there's no trial period. Anything above $10 to me "feels" too much for a product that I can only know by reviews, reputation or screenshots.

Re: OS X 10.8: Functional Split between MAS and direct-sale apps

Just out of curiosity, iCloud also has a granular, database sync, e.g. for Contacts. Would it be worthy to explore the possibility of a database storage system (CoreData?) instead of the package system? Wouldn't that also help in terms of compatibility across platforms assuming that CoreData is full...

Re: Best bibliography tool to use with Scrivener?

Besides seeing what works better for you, I suggest to keep your advisor in the loop too if you're going to use bibliography software. Some (most) advisors don't know what embedded bibliogrpahy fields are. They may want to edit formatted biblio references. Some may not understand curly brackets, etc...

Re: Opinions on crowd funding

Hi, I didn't have an opinion. Read stuff coming from the investor side, and not from the developer side, and I found that odd. I thought that the financial side would be daunting, how to estimate returns of investment, fairness, what type of community is fostered, etc. Siren's reply confirmed and ev...

Opinions on crowd funding

I was originally going to post this in the ipad forum, but this is probably a better place... I was just checking recent legislation passed by US Congress that includes regulation on crowd funding. It seems like an interesting concept and I started checking a few sites (such as app founder) and it s...

I love the idea of using command-s to save a snapshot of all opened documents, with or without noise.

That's a good idea. I still prefer using the opening window, but it definitely works.

Opening window

In the Mac version, Scrivener's opening window resembles Pages with the layouts in the left sidebar and a button to Open Recent. I was wondering about the possibility of using an open dialog that is closer to Microsoft Office, which has a sidebar with the templates on top, and a lower pane to open r...
