Linux on Chrome OS

I've just purchased a Chromebook, which I understand now is capable of running Linux apps (https://www.zdnet.com/article/all-chromebooks-will-also-be-linux-laptops-going-forward/) I'm running Scrivener for Windows on my desktop PC, but the Chromebook is going to be my portable 2nd computer going for...

Re: [NB] Windows shows multiple installations

Oh, I thought I could use the automatic update option in the beta. I actually did try to uninstall one of these, which seemed to uninstall everything, but the items remained in the list and I couldn't uninstall the others.

Windows shows multiple installations

I've got the latest beta. I just was looking through what apps I have in Windows 10, and found 3 instances of Scrivener

The first says 2.9.0.12
Second is 2906
Third is 2904.

Anything I can do about this?

Label selection menu too sensitive

I'm using the latest beta on Windows 10. I'm having trouble selecting labels for each index card from the bottom right dropbox menu. Often when I click, the menu closes right away as if I've already selected one of the labels. After a few clicks I can usually keep the menu open so I can choose the r...

Re: [JH] Text Scale in Composition Mode

Thanks for the help. After doing some more testing, it seems to only happen to me when I'm trying to view multiple bits of text. Like if I've clicked a folder (my chapter) containing multiple text documents, and then enter full screen from there. This problem does not seem to happen if I choose an i...

Re: Listed in the Verge ... for note taking?

Huh, guess I just never thought to use it that way! Glad to hear it's coming to Android at some point. I've been mulling a Chromebook for a portable at some point in the future, and those support Android apps now (and Linux, another option...).

Listed in the Verge ... for note taking?

Am I the only one to find it odd to see Scrivener listed on The Verge as a top app for taking notes ? I mean, it's an awesome app for writing stories but I don't think it's trying to compete with Google Keep and Evernote! I was interested to see the article says it's coming to Android. Is that true?

[LH3192] Find and replace bug?

I've had some issues with find and replace in a scene. I was trying to change a character's name, so I hit Ctrl+F and started doing a find and replace. Sometimes, but not always, when I clicked "Replace and Find" it didn't replace the name before finding the next instance. It's happened to...

[LH3211] Text Scale in Composition Mode

When I start up Scrivener and go to full-screen composition mode, the text scaling does not match what is selected in the drop down. For example, if it's set to 150% in the menu, the text itself is not 150%. Selecting a different scaling, then going back to 150% sets things to the right size, and ev...

Button for swap editors

I really like using the split screen view in Scrivener when I'm editing since it lets me check another scene in my novel without losing my place. I generally like to keep the document I'm working on in the left side, while I look elseswhere in my project on the right. However, sometimes I find I for...

Reading with a touch screen

I've recently started using a Surface 3 and have noticed that touch doesn't work very intuitively with Scrivener. It's mainly that I want to use touch to scroll the screen, but it always highlights text instead. In other Windows apps, touching with a finger scrolls, and using a stylus highlights. Is...

Thanks for the replies. That Cloudfogger thing sounds interesting. Any good? Is it overkill?

Encryption

Just something I was thinking about recently -- since a lot of use Dropbox or other cloud storage to easily get to our Scrivener documents on multiple computers, is there an easy way to encrypt what we're working on? Every day you hear more reports about hacks and other things. I have two-factor aut...
