I haven't noticed that and Dropbox doesn't show up as an app with significant battery drain on my Air,

Re: Apple M1 Processor

I bought the M1 MB Air, the cheapest model, as an experiment thinking I'd probably return it. Instead it's meant my 19 16 inch MB Pro has hardly been used. The Air is fast, the keyboard good. Scrivener runs really quickly. I've had no problems with any other software, whether written for the M1 or n...

Re: Author name on Word compile only outputs last name

So I tried putting in <$fullname> and <$author> into the Compile author fields. Still I only get a surname even though the full name is set in Prefs. However if I put the full name into the Surname field that bodges it.This happens with all the built in compile formats on more than one Mac. Odd...

Re: Author name on Word compile only outputs last name

I'm using the Times manuscript Compile format that come with Scrivener. Sorry but I don't know what you mean by a placeholder. Where's that? There's no custom metadata set up for this file. The luggage ticket fields in Compile (I assume this is metadata have first and last names in the Authors field...

Author name on Word compile only outputs last name

For the life of me I can't get a file to export to Word the author name in the header. I have the name in full in Author Information in prefs. In Compile I put it in the Authors and Forename and Surname field. All that comes out is a surname and that only if I fill in the Forename and Surname field ...

Re: Compile not working in 3.2 [Workaround: pg. 2]

I feel upset and angry and people should have some warning before they purchase something like this, which the concepts behind are great-but sticks and stumbles too much in reality -for me its given me hours of wasted time. I though software was supposed to ease time and help people. There's a very...

Re: Compile not working in 3.2 [Workaround: pg. 2]

I just updated to Scrivener 3.2 as well. I also updated my MacBook Air to Big Sur the other day. The compile button does nothing. And like #WOOLYPINKFOX I'm no programmer so would need a patch. It isn't hard, Right click on the scriv file and show package then go to settings and delete the compile....

Re: Compile not working in 3.2 [Workaround: pg. 2]

Yes deleted compile.xml kind of worked though what effect it has on a live file of 60k words I've no idea. I did notice that if I compiled to print it worked fine but then when I went back and tried to compile for docx (I chose print by accident not because I needed it) everything was back to scratc...

Re: Compile not working in 3.2 [Workaround: pg. 2]

Do I assume this rather complex solution fixes the crashing problem not the fact Compile does nothing for some of us? I just tried creating a blank file from scratch from the standard Scriv fiction template. It does nothing when I hit Compile.

Same here. No crash. Just nothing happening if you try to Compile.

Re: Screenwriting; adding scenes automatically

This may seem unfamiliar for anyone coming from something like Final Draft - it was for me - but actually the way Scrivener handles things is much more flexible. Instead of having individual cards for each scene with the title being the scene it's best to think of cards as potential groups of scenes...

Re: How do you set default indents, font etc for all documents?

A feature request for a future update for Windows would be some option, like the Mac version wrap, which gave a shorter line length in the editing view. On a 15 inch laptop it's impossible to use the current line length which is just too long to be readable. I created a custom layout which shrinks d...

Strange behaviour with Samsung Software

I just got asked to run an update for Samsung Support Centre for my new laptop (Easy Support is the Samsung app which updates drivers and stuff). As the laptop prepared to install the update the Scrivener uninstall routine kicked in. I assumed this must have been a mistake on my part so cancelled it...
