Re: Search/Find in Comments or Footnotes?

I am using the word "metadata" the way it is defined, not how L&L has used it to arbitrarily qualify certain in-Scrivener containers. That's a pity, since Scrivener uses it the way that L&L defines it, and that's going to continue to be massively frustrating to you until you accep...

Re: Update 3.01 crashes during Install Wizard

And I'm still curious about the technical reason for the 'installdir' empty value problem and what has caused it. If anyone has any deeper insight into that, I'd appreciate being educated. Something was broken in the installer that first got distributed so that it wasn't parsing its control files c...

Re: The License server is compromised.

The License server is not the one installed from the application. If this occurred accidentally then contact windows.support@literatureandlatte.com for further support. Scrivener will now be shut down. Please reinstall the application and purchase a valid license to continue using Scrivener. Today ...

Re: Search/Find in Comments or Footnotes?

Is there any way to leave any kind of meta-data (not visible in the main text of the binder entities), that is tagged to user selected strings of text in documents, such that that meta-data can be searched and viewed as a scrollable list of items that when clicked on causes Scrivener to bring up th...

Re: Windows upgrade -> Conversion / Backwards compatibility

I'm asking about windows, and I'm asking the opposite: Can I open a v1 project in v3? I ask because I read there is no backwards compatibility in the Windows version. Hence, the question is if there's a workaround. But someone said they thought v3 has backwards compatibility (windows). Now I'm conf...

This is not, in fact, a default setting. I have only ever seen this console window present during the entire Scrivener 3 beta when I actively checked the checkbox.

Re: Synch with external folder

I don't think that's a good reason. Zip backups and backups OF the zip backups are all you need. Jim's method allows you to instantly recover the text without having access to a copy of Scrivener, if that is necessary, without having to dig through your backed-up project structure. For some people,...

Re: Synch with external folder

What other program are you using to open the external folder? If the answer is "none", there's no good reason to sync to an external folder. Actually, there's at least one good reason to use Sync with External Folder other than editing with a 3rd party app. See my post here: https://www.l...

Re: Organizing Use on Multiple Devices

FYI, the ipad dropbox app is not necessary for the iOS scrivener version to sync. You have to set up Scrivener for iOS with your dropbox userid & password, and choose within it what folder on Dropbox to sync with. No but I've personally had way fewer syncing issues with having the dropbox app t...

Re: Why are folks here using Scrivener 3 Beta for windows instead of 1.9?

I saw someone here complaining about syncing their book to IPAD or Iphone. Again, I don't get it. Why would you want to write your novel on anything other than a Laptop? I recently had to travel and took my iPad and iPhone as my only compute devices. It was very nice to be able to work on my projec...

Re: Screenplay PDF output problems

I'm not taking his step to copy this Courier Prime into that Windows font folder, though you may if you want to use it in other programs. When I went and looked at my Courier Prime installation, I took a look at the version number being reported. The version that Scrivener includes was the same fon...

Re: I wish Scrivener was an online Software as a Service (SAAS)

That said..... I believe that L&L has indeed been unnecessarily competing with Microsoft, to the extent that it has replicated the functionality of MS Word in developing Scrivener's own full blown "word processor," simply so it could provide users the prerequisite writing environment ...

Re: Keywords For Multiple Projects

There doesn't seem to be any way to bulk import keywords from a text file. That would be a useful method. . Or to simply convert selected text to a keyword, or from a list in a document in the project itself. Still can't quite believe the option isn't there, hiding under a menu somewhere. If it can...

Re: Keywords For Multiple Projects

Is it possible to turn a list of words into keywords? I have a large number of keywords and am hoping to avoid having to manually enter them. I see there's something about exporting and importing, but nothing that quite lets me do that. . The importing and exporting allows you to move keywords and ...

Yup. Setting up SaaS properly as a SaaS provider requires all sorts of levels of recurring overhead that you aren't likely to match developing stand-alone apps.
