Re: When will I be able to buy the IOS version in Israel?

You've asked this question twice already and gotten at least one answer. In some countries, Apple withholds the required taxes so the developer does not have to track them. In other countries, Apple does not -- and any developer who sells applications in those countries is responsible for tracking t...

Re: Different Settings For Section Layouts Format

Yes. PDF is not ePub or Kindle, so it is not the second option, it is the first. If you are compiling to ePub or Kindle, you don't get that kind of control over how it is displayed without using CSS, so it is pointless to display those options. Instead, you are asked which CSS class to associate it ...

Re: June 20th Seems... Oddly Specific to End Beta 17

I hate to burst bubbles, but in the past eval editions tended to be extended by a month, and June 15th is on a Saturday. Nobody really wants to work on a Saturday to either get the new eval edition out or to start collecting bug reports for the new edition. There may also be vacations, planned absen...

Along these same lines (installer issues): -- Expected behavior is that when you run a newer installer of Scrivener (whether from the in-app updater, or manually) and older version of the same major release of Scrivener is already installed, that there is only a single entry in the installed program...

Re: Getting the Most out of Scrivener for Chromebooks

If you go this route, be aware that Google Drive has a reputation for doing Not Nice Things (tm) to Scrivener projects, so make sure you have appropriately configured your backup options.

Re: beta after May 15th?

...I gotta admit. I'm getting nervous. the beta expires in four days and all the new releases didn't squeak this close to the wire. The recent flurry of new beta releases, all with an expiration date weeks ahead in May, was a relatively recent phenomenon. We're used to getting a new drop with a new...

Re: New comer's cross-platform question

Thanks. Should I expect any problems saving between Mac 3 and Windows 1.9? I realise this is being discussed in a gazillion other threads, but I haven't read anything since January. Mac 3 and Windows 1.9 are different project formats and are not directly transferable. Mac 3 is version 3, Windows 1....

Re: chat bubble effect

If you're planning on publishing this yourself (or hiring a self-publication service) then yes, you should be thinking about these issues and figuring out how to add the intended effect in your final layout program. If, however, you are submitting your work to a publishing house, you may not want to...

Re: Github markdown preview?

Scrivener is fundamentally a collection of XML and RTF documents. When you write markdown in a document in your Scrivener project, it is saved as an RTF file and not a plain text file. GitHub's markdown processors won't deal with that, to the best of my knowledge. And because of the internal file st...

Re: Organization

That might explain the inflexibility of some not wanting to hear about gathering all of the formatting tools together in a place- even when that would be far easier for someone with learning disabilities. One of the things that makes Scrivener very different from other writing tools is that it has ...

One observation: it seems to me that no matter what other people say, what you reply with ends up sounding like you're more interested in the argument rather than the subject of the argument. Many people find this wearying.

Re: Global formatting in Scrivener 1.9.9

This is what the Compile process was made for -- creating a consistent output document even when your source documents in the Scrivener project are not in a consistent format. What is driving you to clean up your project (especially when you have a tight time frame) *before* compiling it? That might...

Re: Possible Windows 10 Issue - Feedback would be great!

This sounds more like there's an issue with your graphics driver's memory management. Are you using graphics drivers from Windows Update (the card vendor writes them, submits them to Microsoft, Microsoft blesses them for distribution) or directly from your graphics card vendor? I prefer to use the W...

Re: same file - some pages blank on different computer

And if for some reason, you *DO* need to use Google Drive, you may want to consider an alternative workflow. 1) Configure both your Scrivener instances to perform automatic backups on save/close, zipped up into a single file, into a directory that is synced by Google Drive. Make sure to increase the...

Re: How to avoid trying to be "original" and "perfect"?

You don't have to reinvent the wheel to have a unique spin on something. I am reminded of a line from a well-known director (whose name is totally slipping my mind) about regular episodic television series. He said the reason they work is because as viewers we basically really want to see the same ...
