[edit] Partial Table of Contents

Because of the size of the FAQ, it would not be reasonable to maintain a full table of contents here. Use the provided links to navigate to the section you most feel will contain your answer. If you couldn’t find it, it will most likely be in the General Information or Miscellaneous sections.

[edit] About the FAQ

If you are new to Scrivener, and have not yet gone through the tutorial, I highly recommend it. You will find the interactive tutorial located in the Help menu of Scrivener. This will give you a basic overview of the underlying philosophies utilised by Scrivener, and will greatly enhance your usage of it.

This section of the wiki will refer to the Apple key as the Command (Cmd) key, and the Alt key as the Option (Opt) key. Accessing the contextual menu is referred to as Right-clicking, as opposed to Ctrl-clicking. There is no good reason for that, other than it being what I am used to. :)

Disclaimer: This FAQ was written and is maintained by AmberV. As such should not be considered official Literature and Latte answers.

[edit] A Note on the Wiki Version and old Cross-Referencing

Previously, the Scrivener FAQ was located on the forum, as this was the best place for visibility. As of the publication of the wiki version, the forum version has been removed and simply has a link to this document. In forum questions and answers, you may find section reference numbering. The forum did not allow linking to specific answers, effectively limiting its usefulness given that it was essentially one very long document. The wiki format will allow more answers and better organisation for those answers. To best take advantage of a wiki’s non-linear approach, the old style referencing will most likely become broken over time. If you came here with a specific section number, I apologise for the inconvenience, but hope that the new organisation offers a more intuitive and immediate way to find the answers to your questions.

Wikis also provide the unique ability for anyone to edit content. If you see a mistake or a broken link in the FAQ, please feel free to edit it yourself. If you would like to add a new question and answer to the FAQ, you may also feel free to do so. When adding new material, try to think of what other users will find useful in terms of what section you place it in, and whether or not it is actually a question that often gets repeated on the forum. The FAQ is already quite large, and so adding new material should always be carefully considered.

If all of this seems intimidating, you may of course submit your content (partial or complete) to AmberV for review, editing, and integration with existing material.
