Copy Document as External Link Usage Notes

External document links are in the format x-scrivener-item://path/to/project.scriv?id=[UUID]
The links are static references to the project's location on the disk; they will not work from other computers, or if the project has been moved from the location it was in when the link was generated.

You can alsp open other documents in QuickRef panels and can specify as many documents as you want. The rules are simple:

"id" or "doc" will always be opened according to the "Open clicked links in" behaviour unless you specify "qr" for "view". "id1" or "doc1" will be opened in the split editor if "id" or "doc" has been specified and if "view" is set to "split", "split-h" or "split-v". Otherwise it will be opened in a Quick Reference panel. Subsequent documents ("id2", "id3" or "doc2", "doc3" etc) will all be opened in Quick Reference panels. i.e.

A few issues to be aware of in the current v16 beta

We have not yet updated the user manual, so the beta still contains the old 1.9.7 manual. We have however included an updated interactive tutorial for 3.0, which we recommend working through to familiarise yourself with the new features.

Titles are not editable in the editor header while in Scrivenings mode. They can however be updated in the Inspector, Binder, or, if View > Text Editing > Show Titles in Scrivenings is enabled, directly in the editor and the change will be reflected in the header.

A Note on Suggestions

To help resolve remaining bugs, we'd appreciate keeping the beta forum posts dedicated to bug reports or questions on working with the beta. Suggestions for the interface or functionality should instead be posted in Scrivener's general wishlist forum, since most of these affect the design for both Windows and macOS. Thank you!
