Scrivener doesn't limit you to viewing only text documents. You can import image files, PDF documents, movies, sound files and web pages so that you can refer to them while you write. In the above screenshot, the photo of a character is being viewed in the top pane for reference whilst the text is being written in the bottom pane. The inspector is open on the right showing the synopsis of the scene being written and an image of the location that has been stored in the notes area. The binder (the main contents list which usually appears on the left) has been closed so that the writer can focus on this particular scene.
