Hi everybody,
Installed it on Windows 10 (32 bits). I open it, but it closes after 6 (six) seconds. Can't use it right now. Tried compatibility mode (Win 7 or 8 ), same result.

Do you have speechsdk installed? It was doing the same thing to me--hanging on startup, then closing after a few seconds.

Scrivener 3 was re-written as a 64-bit application. I'm afraid that means it won't run on 32-bit systems anymore :(

edit: I stand corrected! Sorry to spread misinformation -- I confused the info about Mac and Windows versions

Are you sure? I'm running it in a 32-bit WINEPREFIX. It does need to be Windows 7 or higher. 3.0 for OSX is 64-bit, I believe.

Scrivener on Windows is still 32-bit and should run just fine on that architecture. (Scrivener for macOS is now 64-bit, as Garpu noted.) Could you please do the following:
  1. Navigate in File Explorer to the Scrivener installation directory, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Scrivener
  2. Right-click the "ScrivenerLog.bat" file and choose Run as Administrator. Enter your admin password as needed.
Scrivener should go through the opening and crashing process; then click any key to continue, as it says,
  3. Find the "log" folder within the Scrivener installation directory (you may need to refresh the view) and attach the file found there. (You may need to either zip it or change the file extension, as the forum is picky about attached file types. Alternatively you can copy and paste the contents into your post.)

Thanks!

Something you might also try is update your video card driver. Around this time (6 seconds after Scrivener starts) the Web Engine initialization kicks in trying to load OpenGL video driver libraries. This might lead to a crash on some systems without any obvious reason. Updating the video drivers solved the problem on some machines. Hope this helps.

Thanks, kookuei, we'll take a look. Did you try updating the computer's video card drivers as Tiho suggested earlier in the thread? If not, give that a try too; it may resolve the issue for you.

Hi kookuei - The log file suggests the crash is caused by a missing voice for the language used by the text-to-speech engine. Could you please try installing any voices for your system language, rebooting, and then launching Scrivener? This Microsoft article explains how to download and install voices for Windows.
