I have just begun using Scapple. Generally, I am impressed. It is the first mindmap-style software I have used that allows freeform linking (doesn't stick to a tree structure) and doesn't require a month to learn. It is also great that it is a good price.

If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be in the area (no pun intended) of canvas movement. When you have a diagram bigger than the monitor, which is almost always, why can't you simply drag the canvas around? You view content far more than write it, so I would have thought that easy navigation of an existing diagram would be top of the list of requirements. Unless I am missing something (quite possible) the current system seems clunky and unintuitive and seriously reduces the usefulness of what could have become one of my go-to story design tools.

Kind wishes ~ Patrick
