Just wanted to send kudos for not using a subscription model.

Couple years back I bought both Ulysses and Scrivener (for Mac, Windows, and iOS) and was testing out these two different "platforms". Ulysses was the program with the nicer UI interface, but I dropped it as soon as it went to the subscription model (I even sent them a note about it). I'm hoping L&L will keep away from subscription models that so many software companies are going for. I'm happy to pay for upgrades -- recently just bought the Mac upgrade from 2.x to 3.0!

Thanks for that! None of us around here like subscription software either, so we don't see much cause to inflict it on others. :)

Not using a subscription model is the exact reason for me to stay with Scrivener, too. I'm really hoping and guessing this is rewarded by a lot of other users. Happily paid the once-time upgrade price for the new 3.0 version after all the years.

It saddened me when Ulysses went subscription, I am glad that Scrivener isn't going down that road.

But no kudos for your pricing tricks. I reside in Japan and when I rushed to upgrade I was forced to pay in Japan yen - JPY11.004 minus a discount of 2445 = JPY8559, That is US$99-US$22 = US$77. I would love to think this is an error - but...
That's quite a premium for living in a country which doesn't speak English.

How much of that is Japanese taxes? The base price of the program is the same worldwide: US$45, which the store just now converted to JPY5502.

Hmmm... 11,004 = 2×5,502

Did you accidentally check out two copies of the software, seeing as how we're looking at a roughly x2 difference? If so, do contact us.

I'll add my thanks for not going to the subscription model. I happily paid for the upgrade given all the hard work you put into it, didn't need the discount so didn't ask for it since I feel you are asking a fair price. The gesture was certainly appreciated though.

I've used Scrivener almost every single day, can't say that about most other programs I've downloaded.

Thanks, Cath! Glad to hear it’s useful enough to be your daily writing tool. :)
