OOOOkay. As of now (12:19GMT) this forum is a mess. L&L seems to be down. No Scrivener at all in the Mac store. Hmm. Do you think he just ran screaming out of the door, never to be heard from again?

Does anyone know how you can view the binder, the index cards and the editor at the same time? I saw it was possible in one of the screenshots for scrivener 3 but cannot see how to replicate it.

It's HERE!!! Woo-hoo!

And to think I was ready to jump out of the window, which shows true desperation since I live in a one-room shack.

Thank you, Literature and Latte! I'm going through the new tutorial now, and this morning I outlined a new idea for a short story. I'll dive in later this afternoon.

I didn't even want to wait for the discount. Somebody, please give my regards to Keith and tell him how sorry I am for posting all that crud about some hypothetical weaponized Scrivener Version 4.

But while we're on the subject, if there is a weaponized V4, just asking, um, when can I download it?

Scriv3 does not import Scriv2's preferences. At least, it hasn't done so for me. I remember previously migrating preferences from a TM backup into Scrivener following a clean install of an OS, so I think it can be done, though Scriv3 may simply not allow that. I'll wait for someone more knowledgeable to chip in.

Edit: I was trying to quote @DavidMunch from earlier in this thread, but that quote seems to have been lost in transit

Do you mean when it's set up so that the cork board is on the left, and when you click on an index card, the text is loaded into the right hand editor? (Sorry, just tried to upload a screenshot and the new forum doesn't like it...)

That's actually possible in Version 2 -- it's just that V3 has made it into a default layout so you don't have to fiddle to set it up. You can find the default layouts in Window > Layouts. The one you want is called 'Three pane (Corkboard)'.

If that's not what you mean, please let me now...

Nothing quite like that, I just mean things like Binder and Inspector background colour, auto save timing, those subtle highlights for every second line in the Binder (can't remember what that preference is called). The things contained in Scriv's Preference pane (CMD-,).

I'm in no rush, just exploring and setting up Scriv3.

Looks very nice. Great work L&L. Scapple tweaks too.

Thought I might have to do some writing now that prevarication excuses have run low, but that 847 page manual should see me through to the weekend :-D

Brookter, I realise now you were probably replying to windy71 :D

For what it's worth, I figured out the solution to my own question. I opened a project, which hadn't yet been converted to Scriv 3, in Scriv2. Opened the Prefs pane, clicked the drop down menu on the bottom left and selected 'Save All Preferences'. Saved that to desktop. Then closed Scriv2, opened Scriv 3's preference pane, clicked the same drop down menu and clicked Load All Preferences. Navigated to the saved prefs on the desktop and that was it.

@Kinsey

Ha! I'd typed out a reply to your post wondering about that but the new forum ate it...

I was going to say though that while I think you can import the preferences, there's actually a lot of new stuff available and it's worth fairly early on going through the panel line by line to see what's new.

From what I've read, it's been submitted to Apple and is waiting on them to publish it on the store.

Apple didn't want in on the launch day fun it seems! They are still reviewing it.
