Five years ago I asked

When I drop a file into a folder in the Binder, the folder unreels itself and opens with all 50 files visible. This is obviously a setting somewhere - is there anywhere to toggle it off?

and Keith kindly replied

It will pop open no matter what - that's built into the OS X outliner/folder system - but you can set it up to close automatically again, by selecting "Collapse auto-expanded outline items after drag and drop" in the Navigation pane of the preferences.

However this setting doesn't seem to be in the current Navigation setting (fished around the Prefs and found it - maybe it's not the right one?) How do I do it now, please?

Navigation setting shown below:

In your screenshot, you have Navigation highlighted: if you go up two and select Dragging & Dropping, you'll find the 'Collapse auto-expanded outline items after drag and drop' setting.

HTH.

Ah, thanks. Must add it to my notes.
