Scriv 3 compile is driving me crazy. If this request is better sent to Scrivener tech support, say so.
I've attached 3 documents. First, a partial outline of a novel as it appears in Scrivener (Outline tab). The second attachment is what the compile instruction to get me an outline with synopsis looks like. Note that the compile instruction follows the outline for the first few items, correctly identifying chapter, then scene/scene/scene. Then, for no apparent reason, the scene "Group Training" becomes a Chapter, as do the following approx. 150 scenes. The third attachment shows part of the resulting outline, which replicates the compile instruction error. Because of the number of scenes, multiplied by three novels, I am unwilling to go through scene by scene and correct the situation. Is there something simple, other than reverting to Scriv 2?

It looks like you haven't set up your default section types by structure to be the way you'd like them. Select Project > Project Settings... In the dialog, look at the default types by structure and correct them.

If I may suggest, I saved a great deal of time and frustration by using the interactive tutorial project ( Help > Interactive Tutorial...) . As an experienced v2 user, I found the "What's New in Scrivener 3" collection in the tutorial to be especially helpful. As well, there is an Upgrade Guide for Scrivener 2 users (http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener-3-update-guide) that was extremely helpful to me in learning how the new compile function works. The section types are integral to the new compile, so you may find this material helpful as well.
So you know where I'm coming from:
  • I'm a user, not an L&L employee.
  • Mac Scrivener 2.9 & 3.0.2, MacBook Air 11, MacOS 10.12.6 (Sierra)
  • IOS Scrivener 1.1.5, iPhone 6s, iPad Air 2, iOS 11.3

Thank you, Silver. I did look at the both the tutorial to the extent I could. Perhaps the start-stop jerkiness has moderated in the last week. The 'what's new' is too cursory to be helpful. I need to get beyond my irritation at functionality lost, invest the time, climb the learning curve. Thanks for the pointer.
