The speech feature is really cool!
It helps me to catch stupid mistakes in my sentence structure!
But, I noticed that if I want to start the speech half way through the document then I have to select ALL of the text that I want it to say.
It would be nice if the speech would just start talking from where the caret is positioned!

Keep up the good work!
David

A quick way to make this particular selection is: Once the cursor is placed where you wish to start, hit Cmd-Shift-DownArrow.

Huh... I never noticed that. That is a bit annoying. Unfortunately I don't have any control over this - the Speech feature is a built-in OS X feature (and a very nice one). It's available in TextEdit, too, for instance - and you will see that it works the same there, too.

The speech feature is set to improve massively with Leopard, too. In the keynote speech at WWDC last year (available on the Apple website), Steve Jobs demonstrated the new version - the reading is incredible, much less robotic. Basically, Vista takes it way beyond Tiger's implementation, and Leopard takes it way beyond Vista. It's one thing I'm really looking forward to, although the Tiger speech feature is pretty much sufficient.

Best,
Keith
