FYI, WriteRoom for the iPod is currently free at the Apple App Store. It is regularly $5 and includes a coupon for $5 off the desktop version. I'm not a user (Scrivener die-hard--what can I say?) but I know there are quite a few people in this forum who might be interested in the offer.

Cheers,

Barry

Yes, but what if you could write in WriteRoom on your iPhone, sync your documents with the writeroom.ws service, and then download any documents you write directly into Scrivener? Hmm?

Not that I'm saying anything like this is likely to come in the very next Scrivener update or anything. But let's just say that Jesse Grosjean rocks... :)

All the best,
Keith

Hey, thanks for the tip, Barry. I would have totally missed that one. I didn't even know there was a WriteRoom app for iPhone. Good thing, because I might have already bought it instead of getting it free!

Huh. Is there any way to get the documents you create on WriteRoom for iPhone off of your phone and onto the computer without buying the software or syncing your work with their servers?

You can use copy and paste into another app that would sync, you can email your text, you can use wifi. you could even use phoneview. but it´s not sync it´s manual copy and paste.

After finding out yesterday about the offer I installed and tested a bit, I also asked about sync related issues, security and future of the web service, you can read the answer here:

What is a real problem is lack of security of the online service.

Yeah, that's a bit of a downside. I won't even use google docs because I'm not sure about the security.

It's no longer free, but for this week, it's on sale for 99¢.

Woah! I didn't notice this when you wrote it. I just found it in the program.

Oh, heck yeah. I'll have to poke around with it a bit, but this could be useful.

Does Scrivener sync with it over wifi, or just with google servers?

Only via Google servers. And no, that won't change. :)

Cut & paste will probably be just fine for me then. If this works the way I hope it does (haven't had the chance to play yet) then WriteRoom just went from a trivial curiosity for me to a potentially useful tool. :)
