Re: Windows - Enlarge Synopsis Pictures?

I'm not around a PC at the moment to check and see if they have this implemented yet, but the idea is that you can drag a synopsis image from the inspector into either the binder or an editor header bar. In the former case, this will "create" a file for you which can then be exported or op...

Re: Word selection is not working

If the dictionary appears, you might be clicking too hard on the trackpad. I tend to disable "force click" in the Trackpad pane of System Preferences, as I'm always accidentally pressing too hard and it goes past a regular click, into look-up mode.

Re: Rename this subforum "Scrivener Tips"?

There used to be two boards: ⋅  Scrivener Tips - Share Yours ⋅  The Zen of Scrivener - Usage Scenarios They were combined into “Using Scrivener” last year—but even with the longer and more descriptive titles these boards still required annotation, trickery and constant moderation...

Re: Compile Resetting after Close

The ongoing session count should be tallied into the main internal storage file every time the project autosaves—so in theory that number should be as predictably stored as the title of a document in the binder, a label assignment, etc. So if you aren’t losing that kind of information in a crash, th...

Re: Change Metadata on Multiple Documents Selection?

Checkboxes can be batch toggled by holding down the Alt key when you click on one of them. Either all visible items will be toggled, or if there is a selection, only items within the selection will be toggled. This may not work in the stable version of Scrivener, I didn’t check that, I just double-c...

Re: Cmd-Option-1 impossible to assing, even after deleting Centered Text style

Hmm, I didn’t notice this condition in the sample you sent, but maybe you’ve got scriptwriting mode turned on? If the footer bar along the bottom of the editor lacks word/character statistics and has some hint text on Return/Tab instead, try hitting ⌘8 to toggle scripting mode off, and try setting t...

Re: Compile Resetting after Close

Hmm, does this mean the settings have reverted after midnight, or that the settings appear fine but the effects they should be having are not happening? We potentially do have some issue around midnight with session tracking. This specific aspect isn’t something I’ve heard of before, but there are a...

Re: Spacing in Beta visually different than v2

Thanks! Okay I see the problem now I think. The reason I wasn’t seeing it earlier is because I did not try to do anything with the text I had formatted, and just closed the project. Here is a test: ⋅  Paste some plain-text into the editor. ⋅  Set the font to Georgia 12pt. ⋅&...

Re: ePub: no more line feeds & strange ToC

Yes the trick works for people who do have 3.0.3 but for customers starting with 3.1.1 they won’t be able. Well anyone can download 3.0.3 from the site no matter when they bought the software (or even if they haven’t yet). This is even true for people that buy from Apple, who have no access to olde...

Re: ePub: no more line feeds & strange ToC

Did they have anything to say on whether or not they still require (or badly need) an Adobe stylesheet in ePub 3 files? After asking Kobo to position themselves about the ePub 3 compatibility, they did exactly what I expected: tell me they’re compatible and that Scrivener doesn’t follow ePub 3 stand...

Re: Spacing in Beta visually different than v2

Yeah that is a weird one! The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is that you have a different version of Georgia than I do (I’m just using whatever Microsoft puts on the computer), but even that wouldn’t entirely explain why it works differently in the two different versions of S...

Re: Cmd-Option-1 impossible to assing, even after deleting Centered Text style

Hopefully you kept a copy of the Application Support folder so you can replace it. The only possible thing in there that might be of impact is the default default_styles.xml file, which will appear if you modify the default stylesheet for new projects. I’m still a bit unclear on what you mean by the...

Re: Spacing in Beta visually different than v2

There must be some other setting impacting the look than what we can see in the Format Bar. I created two test projects, one in the beta and one in stable, and formatting them using identical settings. The results were the same, so there doesn’t seem to be a substantial difference in font rendering....

Re: Spacing in Beta visually different than v2

It’s not really possible to see what your paragraph formatting is in the second screenshot. The font you are using is clearly not “Segoe UI” as that is a sans serif font, and it sure doesn’t look 9pt to me, so the “1.0x” line-height probably isn’t accurate either. It’s that line-height control to th...

Re: How do I get smart quotes working?

Is spell check also not working? If so you’ve hit a known macOS bug, the only way of getting around it that we know of is to reload the software. Sometimes the correction layer provided by the Mac, which handles typography and spell check together, drops out for some reason. Another more obscure thi...
