Re: character styles in footnotes

Neat, thanks for posting the solution for anyone else that might need it. As for the sed issue, I just responded over in the other thread as well: but yes sed doesn't do non-greedy syntax. You have to design patterns to work around that. More often than not I switch engines if I get to the point of ...

Re: Scapple diagrams jump when the diagram loses focus

Would you say this happens more or less often when using tabbed windows, as shown in the GIF? I haven't seen anything like that myself, nor could I get it to happen with a few tests, but I don't often use tabs and my quick testing with them enabled might not have been enough. Also what method are yo...

Re: Arrow to next document in Scrivenings

You should have something like the following in your Keyboard BTT settings for Scrivener (or Global):

Very cool! I'm anxious to see what it will be capable of, and how well it will integrate with software that produces word processing style output, like Scrivener.

Re: Jump to Top of Page in iPad Editor

“Home” on most Apple portable keyboards and laptops is Fn-LeftArrow . Depending on the brand of keyboard you use, they may have copied that convention as well. I don’t know why the other wouldn’t work though—unless the document isn’t in edit mode. It should be ⌘↓ for the bottom of the file and Up fo...

Indeed there are some files and settings you can copy over that will make the migration fairly seamless. We have a help file in the knowledge base for this.

Re: Word position in document

Yes, the method of doing this is similar to the tool you are already aware of: ⋅  Press ⇧⌘↑ to select all of the text from the cursor position to the top of the document. The current word (and optionally character / page) count up to the cursor will be displayed. ⋅  To return, si...

Re: Dangerously easy to delete a keyword....

I might be missing a scenario that isn't as straightforward as what I tried, but doesn’t the software already do what you are requesting? Here was my test: ⋅  Created a blank test project, and added two keywords to it via the Project Keywords pane: “One” and “Two”. ⋅  Dragged “On...

Re: New option: increment placeholder counters for selective compile as if whole document is being compiled.

This could be rather difficult, considering what all might constitute “selective compile”. What I’m thinking is, I bet the single-group selection mechanic, where this capability is provided, simply compiles the whole thing and then chops the top and bottom of the file off of the output. That’s prett...

Re: Jump to Top of Page in iPad Editor

The Home key on an external keyboard will work while editing text, as well ⌘↑. Otherwise, as is standard for all iOS views, tapping along the very top of the screen, in the status bar area, will scroll you to the top of the list/text view/document/etc.

Re: character styles in footnotes

Yeah, inline footnotes are the tool of choice if you need complex editor formatting such as styles. So this should work, and styles in general do work in footnotes for other compile methods. Once the underlying bug is fixed then this shouldn’t be a problem. It seems I’m not getting around using post...

Re: I want to compile just a small part of my novel

Yeah, or you could just do what I always did in the past when I needed to offset the numbering, type in this somewhere at the top, and snip it out after you compile:

Code: Select all

<$n><$n><$n><$n><$n>...

Re: I want to compile just a small part of my novel

The more I think about it the more I’m not sure filtering ever worked that way, and I must have just contrived a test that reflected that reality poorly. In considering the primary role of the feature, as a way of removing parts of the draft that do not pertain to the output material, if it did reta...

Re: Default paragraph style

So I shouldn’t style everything? Leave the bulk of the ms. unstyled? That’s the idea, yup! Use styles for those things that deviate from what you would consider to be body text, but for the rest just leave it be. The compiler is designed to optionally change the formatting of unstyled text en masse...
