Re: Question for Screenwriters

Popcorn, Can you please explain more clearly for me what you do now. Basically, I write in scene-sized chunks in Scrivener, setting my window so about 1 page of FD script shows in the editor. Not precise, but it's a start. Since my scenes tend to be 2-3 pages long, it's possible to get a sense of t...

Re: Question for Screenwriters

Don't you think working in "chunks" is what every writer does? Or maybe I'm not clear on how "chunks" apply to screenwriting. Generally we outline, then outline index cards/scenes, then write from that. Each scene or index card is a "chunk?" Exactly. When I'm under the...

Re: Question for Screenwriters

I call bullshit on that whole page-count target thing, especially in early drafts of a screenplay I guess I'm just saying that, in my personal experience, when I'm feeling hung up on something like page count in Scrivener (it's happened), I'm actually hung up on something else, like story. Not ever...

Re: Seven-Act Structure (Jacob Krueger?)

What's the total page count for a MOW script? Where do the act breaks fall? 100-105 pages (coming down because of increasing commercial time). Seven Acts. First Hour: Acts 1-3, Second: 4-7. No act less than ten pages. Act Seven traditionally the shortest. First Act traditionally the longest. Major ...

Re: ScrivNote for iPhone - feedback requested!

popcornflix - I'm afraid what I had in mind would certainly have none of that. Well, you asked. :D I use my iphone (and my PDA before) for jotting ideas all the time. At bare minimum, I'd like to see ScrivNote: • Work in vertical & horiz modes • List documents by headline • Sync to Scrivener in...

Re: ScrivNote for iPhone - feedback requested!

Just got an iPhone (love it) and wished right off for a Scrivener-capture app. At bare minimum, the hipster PDA, with a simple list of card titles. The iPhone SDK offers a list interface with drag/drop built in, so it should be straightforward. Horizontal mode is also a good idea. It would be even b...

Isn't this story a quote from the script from the 2007 movie Pathfinder, written by Laeta Kalogridis, based on the 1987 screenplay by Nils Gaup?

Paste from Final Draft with Formatting?

I appreciate your efforts to make screenwriting in Scrivener easier. Would you please consider supporting pasting with format from Final Draft? Scrivener supports copy/paste with formatting within its own screenplay pages. However, when I copy from Final Draft and paste into a Scrivener screenplay p...

Screenplay Autofill request 2008

Would you consider improving Scrivener's Autofill feature so it works exactly like Final Draft? I know -- Scrivener is not a dedicated screenplay program. So we have to use Final Draft (or something like it) in addition to Scrivener. Which makes it pretty important to us that typing a scene in Scriv...

Re: Screenwriter Desire

Now how close - and how desirable for screenwriters, are these functions?) IMHO, the most desirable functions for professional screenwriting that Scrivener lacks are (in order of importance): (1) Page break indicator with page length control. It's vital to know the length of your scenes and sequenc...

FWIW, I created a QuicKey macro that adds a "Reveal In Binder" keystroke whenever I use CMD-[ or CMD-] for Back or Forward. Works great -- syncs the Binder as I navigate.

Re: line numbering please!

Actually, after reading this post, I have looked into this... It would be quite nice to have line numbering for poets, I guess. ...if I did look at this, should the line numbers count every line (even blank lines) or only lines with actual text on them? If you work that out, would it be possible to...
