Re: New Project default directory in Preferences

This should already be happening, actually. Whenever you create a project, Scrivener remembers the location you saved the project and automatically shows that location by default the next time you go to save a project. Is this not happening for you?

Re: Upgraded to Scrivener 3, Can't Find My Project Files

All you need to do is open them in Scrivener 3 - using File > Open in Scrivener or by double-clicking on the file in the Finder. Scrivener works like Word or Pages in that your projects are just files on your computer - it's up to you where you save them. (The files in the Backups folder are just ba...

Re: Scrivener 3

Compile is far more flexible, not less. That's the whole point of the change. Scrivener 3 has not done anything to the organisation of your novel. Scrivener 2 had no concept of scenes or chapters; in Scrivener 3 you can tell Scrivener what each document is, so that it can be used with a wide range o...

Re: Project Bookmarks: How to browse and view folder content automatically?

When you add a folder to the bookmarks list, you will see a little downward-pointing chevron on the right of the row. Click on this, and a list of the folder's subdocuments will appear. Selecting one opens it in the content area below the bookmarks list - so there is no need to add all of the subdoc...

Yes, just use the keyboard shortcuts or the View > Zoom menu options.

Re: MindNode found a way to do update pricing!

I've seen a couple of apps do something like this. They do it using in-app purchases. The problem with taking this route, though, is that you have to let everyone download the app for free and then unlock features using in-app purchases (which can be cheaper for people who have owned another of your...

Re: Titles with borders for pdf

You could accomplish this using underscores in the title prefix and suffix. You'd need to experiment with the number of underscores required to go all the way across the page, and you'd need to ensure the formatting of the prefix and suffix complement one another (and are centred). But for instance,...

Re: Simplenote Syncing Gone in Version 3.0?

Indeed, this has gone, along with Index Card sync. I would stress that we really like Simplenote and Index Card and their developers, so this is not meant t be a negative reflection on them in any way. However, as noted, Simplenote has caused us quite a few support issues over the past couple of yea...

Re: Thank you for new Style & Compile system

Thanks for the kind words, glad you're liking it! The ePub HTML is HTML5 - ePub requires HTML5 XTHML. (All the text has to go through MultiMarkdown as an intermediary to achieve this, given hat there are no good rich text > HTML5 converters out there for Apple's text system.) What do you mean about ...

Re: Broken Captions for Binder–Linked & Embedded Images

Indeed, the idea is that you write in either rich text or MultiMarkdown. I wasn't aware of any hybrid recommendations in the manual, but I never planned for any hybrid uses in Scrivener via the code, and that is certainly not part of my plan. I don't see a reason to relax the caption rules - it will...

Re: Style menu greyed out for no apparent reason (S3)

I can't think of anything that would cause this unless there's an error getting thrown in the background. I you can find any way to trigger the issue, that would be really helpful.

Thanks and all the best,

Re: Select Similar Formatting - is it selecting by date?

Could you attach a project showing the issue? The formatting does have to be the same, so text with styles won't be selected along with text without styles even if they look the same (styles being part of the formatting). Modification dates don't have anything to do with it, although saving and relo...

Re: What is a scapbook?

Those screenshots were checked by two other people before they were uploaded, and of course everyone missed it. And of course it's impossible to change screenshots on the App Store until you upload a new version, so we're stuck with it until 3.0.1 (in progress). Or maybe we should just brazen it out...

Re: Broken Captions for Binder–Linked & Embedded Images

Perhaps this could be mentioned in the manual, or indeed the [ ] syntax removed as there are two other methods to do this and [ ] depends on a compile setting that a user may want (writing in rich text and have captioned figures is not an either/or)... They're certainly not either/or (I'm not sure ...

Re: Scrivener Pro for IOS

What problem are you having with Scrivener for iOS? (That doesn't have any icons with lines through them, so I am confused there.) Be sure to place any projects you want to sync to our iOS version into the Dropbox folder you chose when setting up sync (e.g. /Dropbox/Apps/Scrivener) and then they sho...
