Re: Rearranging files while viewing whole document

Hi,

All you need to do is lock the editor - available via the View menu or using the shortcut Opt-Cmd-L. When you do this, the header bar of the editor turns pink to indicate it is locked. While locked, clicks in the binder do not affect the editor.

All the best,
Keith

Re: Keyboard shortcuts for jumping to next sentence/selecting sentence

Scrivener just uses the standard macOS bindings here, and sadly Apple doesn't provide a next/previous sentence binding. I doubt we have a shortcut available that would work for it, either.

Re: Power consumption Scrivener 3.1.1

That's very strange. Nothing significant changed in this regard in 3.1.1. Where is this flagged? Do you have a lot of images in your text or anything like that?

Re: My Wish - RTF Superscript Transformation

It wouldn't make sense to reduce the font size for superscript text in imported RTFD files. The reasoning is this: - Word and certain other word processors automatically shrink superscript text without requiring a smaller font size. This means that when such files are imported into Scrivener, the su...

Re: Apple not wanting to accept my epub

I'm working on adding some options for the next update that will allow you to choose a maximum size and resolution for images during Compile, which will allow you to address this sort of thing without having to edit the images directly (the cover image will still be down to the user, though). All th...

Re: Table border and background disappears during compile

Ah, okay, no, I'm afraid this is a hard limitation of tables in Scrivener. We use the macOS text system, and although I've customised the system a lot, we still use Apple's vanilla tables (the same as in TextEdit). I'd love to replace them with a bespoke table system one day, but it's an enormous ta...

Re: Does KEEP WITH NEXT work with Section prefix/suffix? (part 1)

Hi David, I'm afraid I'm still not seeing it in our support queue (I've checked the spam too). One thing you could try: if you have Dropbox, put the file in there, and then Ctrl-click on the file and create a public link. You can then email us the link instead of the file itself. That should definit...

Re: My Wish - RTF Superscript Transformation

A-ha - yes, the import fix is only applied to RTF (and Word documents), not to RTFD documents which only come from Apple text system apps.

Re: Cork board icon confusion

Indeed, it means you have turned on scriptwriting mode for that document. You can turn scriptwriting mode on or off by opening the document, putting the cursor in the text editor area, and going to Format > Scriptwriting > Script Mode. Cmd-8 also toggles this mode, so perhaps you hit it by mistake? ...

Re: Loss of files with too long names during export

I've added a check for this to the next update so that file names are limited to 250 characters along (the OS limit seems to be 255, but I think that must include the file extension).

Re: Hyperlinking word to definition in the glossary

There's no way of linking to a specific paragraph, only to documents, but you could just create a different text file for each definition in your glossary. That will make it easier to sort them, too. All of those separate entries will be put together into a single glossary during Compile. And the bo...

Re: Question about Writing History pane

Indeed, "Include in Compile" isn't intended as something you use on-the-fly to compile only a subset of files; instead it's intended as a hard switch so that you can keep notes in your manuscript that you don't want to be counted as part of the manuscript at all. This is because, as RDale,...
