Re: Compile Window does not come up!!!

It sounds like something you have done in the formats is causing Scrivener to throw an error. Please zip up the project and either attach it here or send it to mac.support AT literatureandlatte.com, marking it for my attention.

Re: ePub 3 -- separator between sections

For ePub 3, any extra lines you put around separators will be ignored, because of the way the conversion process works. However, this is a good thing, because inserting manual blank lines here doesn't result in the best HTML in the finished ebook. A better approach is to use CSS. (Although Scrivener...

Re: Not exporting Act & Scene numbers to Final Draft

Ah, okay, I think I understand the problem now. I thought you meant that things were working for projects created prior to v3 but not after, but it's the other way around. There is in fact a minor bug here, then - you need to use "US Stage Play" format for it to work, but as it's a project...

Re: chapter heading at the bottom of the page

Thanks for the kind words! Great to hear you're finding Scrivener so useful. For your titles, what you will want to do is use "Keep with Next", which can be found under Format > Paragraph. (This can be used in the text editor or when setting up Section Layouts in Compile.) This will ensure...

Re: Overwrite text color in main editor (like in composition mode)

A bit early to give up when Dark Mode has only just been announced by Apple. :) I always stay an OS version behind :( But seriously, have fun coding it! My own hope is that OS-level support will enable colour (as in inline annotations and the like) in dark mode. The problem there is that many of th...

Re: Problems importing multiple RTF files

Hi, On your first issue, the only thing that can trigger that message is if there is a file in the import batch that does not conform to a known text file type. Scrivener just asks macOS to check the list for specific types, and shows that error if the list contains any non-text types. Would it be p...

Re: paragraph styles on bulleted lists?

2. Well, in a way that works, but doesn't it defeat the purpose of having styles? I might want to apply different styles to various bullet lists. Sorry, I somehow missed the key piece of information in my reply. The problem here is a known limitation: because of how the ePub HTML files are construc...

Re: Not exporting Act & Scene numbers to Final Draft

I'm really not sure what you mean here. If you go to File> Compile, you get a full Compile panel, from which you can choose to print or export to FDX, PDF and other formats. And Compile resolves numbers just the same as v2. Could you be going to File > Print Current Document instead, perhaps? If not...

Re: Font size keeps getting overridden (Scrivener 3)

That's strange, as using return works fine for me. I would recommend using a style, though (such as creating a "Book Title" style that you apply to the book title) and then using paragraph spacing. So, for instance: 1. Set up the book title as you want it in the editor. 2. Use line spacing...

Re: Different Scrivener file icons in Finder

This is down to how Quick Look works (which is responsible for creating icon previews in the Finder as well as full Quick Look previews). You say that all files have been opened in Scrivener 3, but I'm guessing that the third one in your list has not yet been edited and saved in Scrivener 3, and was...

Re: Can't seem to change book title font on title page (ebook)

To add to Katherine's answer: Ebooks generally don't contain fonts. Rather, the e-reader device will have a selection of fonts and the reader can choose which one he prefers. For instance, in iBooks the default reader font is Iowan (actually Iowan Old Style, I believe), but you can also choose to sw...

Re: Global style (for every project) + "no style" defaults

There reason there is no option to override the text colour in the main editor mode is that, because Scrivener is rich text, it could be confusing to have the real formatting of the document hidden at all times. However, with Apple's new Dark Mode coming in 10.14, there will be a way of getting ligh...

Re: Project not in a recommended location

I had the same problems and also couldn't understand what the techs were talking about (i.e., what the difference between backups and "live projects" was. Then I looked at my Scrivener Backups folder, which I keep on my desktop. I discovered that the backups have the words "bak.zip&q...
