Re: ePub3 vs ePub2

Thanks. So, is it a good idea to move to ePub 3 ASAP? I won't be removing ePub 2 any time soon, so it depends on what you want, really. If you are currently getting better results with ePub 2 and don't have much time to delve into how ePub 3 is done at the moment, there is nothing wrong with sticki...

Re: ePub3 vs ePub2

ePub 3 is very different in the way you set it up, since it is entirely built around CSS and styles. The editor formatting will not be used and you will need to set up the formatting in the Compile format. The built-in "Ebook" format should do a very good job and is the best place to start...

Re: Odd behavior (fonts)

Very strange - I've never seen glitchy behaviour in this myself and I don't believe we have had any similar reports (albeit one, which was slightly different and I don't think related). When text reverts to Helvetica, it usually means that the font is not available, which is strange. Some text might...

Re: Import Format not working as expected

Indeed, you're doing nothing wrong - you just need to click on "Assign Section Layouts..." to assign the Section Types in the current project to the Section Layouts in the Compile Format.

Re: Insertion point height jumping.

This is not really a bug, so much, as a limitation of the text system. Scrivener is built using Apples TextKit text system, which, annoyingly, sets the insertion point to the entire line height when you use a line height multiple. Try setting the line spacing to 1.4 in TextEdit and you'll see what I...

Re: Composition Mode Suggested Spelling Correction Text Unreadable

Unfortunately this is a known bug in macOS. Here's the original report along with a workaround:

In this case, Quick Search is what you are after, the last one in Katherine's list.

I assume you edited the info.plist to allow Scrivener to enter Dark Mode? It will look a bit of a mess at the moment, seeing as most views are not set up to support Dark Mode. I'm deep in Dark Mode code right now!

Re: Changing header/footer colours.

Hmm, the colour options should be hidden in the font panel. Testing this, it seems that when you click on the font control to open the font panel, the colour options *are* hidden, but if you then click on the toolbar of the font panel, they reappear. That seems like a macOS bug. My code uses Apple's...

Re: Document link formatting in PDF Compile

Hi Christian, This really is the whole point of the new Compile system. Scrivener provides a bunch of Formats with presets, but you can create your own either by adding a new one or duplicating and editing an existing one. There's an "+" button in the footer for this, making it clear that ...

Re: Short-cut for quick-reference window from outline?

Asking Windows-related questions in the Mac forums *won't* get you any help, since everyone here uses the Mac version. I haven't answered the question because I don't KNOW the answer - I'm the Mac developer. You need to ask in the Windows forums to get help with the Windows version. This isn't an ar...

Re: Short-cut for quick-reference window from outline?

You can set the spacebar to open the document as a QR under the Navigation tab in Preferences; if you prefer to have that set to open the document in the editor, you can assign your own keyboard shortcut to "as QuickReference" (from the Documents>Open menu) in system prefs. Is this instru...

There isn't even a colour option anywhere for this, is there? But no, there's no way of adding colour to headers and footers.

Re: Make Reveal in Binder More Revealing?

Reveal in Binder has always worked the same (on macOS): it scrolls the row to visible and selects it. The selection colour is the system default, and it won't necessarily be centred because it just uses Apple's own "scroll row to visible" code, which just moves the row onto screen. All the...

Re: Lock Group View Mode

If that's the best we can do, it'll have to suffice. I've created a System Preferences shortcut to Lock Group View Mode, That will help a bit, but it's simply not true (here) that putting a folder in group mode is reliably "sticky". Yes it is. One you put a folder in a group view mode, wh...
