Re: Feature Requests / Suggestions

has anyone else here suggested / requested a 'typewriter mode' for scapple? what i have in mind is very simple - an option to keep focused on the current box and move it automatically to the centre of the screen. i can see that it wouldn't suit everyone, so if it was turn on-and-offable i think it m...

Re: Scrivener and Apple Pages 5.0

I love change, especially when it promises long term improvements. but there's no guarantee that anything like the functionality which has been stripped away will return. the new pages - it's ok, but i can't see it doing anything it didn't do before, and a heck of a lot less to boot, but as a long-...

Re: Scrivener crashes on opening program

I think I've found the culprit -- it's Airfoil's Instant On extension. Uninstalling it fixed the problem for me, Scrivener's launching just fine now. Hope this helps. Yes, this did it for me too. the install menu can be found under the airfoil main menu 'install extensions' and select de-install. i...

don't you mean de-install? anyway i've done this, and it made no difference.

Re: Scrivener crashes on opening program

i'm having the same problem - scrivener was working well just yesterday, but it won't open any more.

i've tried the usual tricks - closing all other programs, deleting and re-installing, and restarting my mac - nothing.

i have the latest update to Lion installed, and the latest version of scrivener.

Re: academic software

wow, i never thought i'd find myself giving advice to a classical greek scholar. for my money i'd go with devonthink. the power and its artificial intelligence way of associating information and documents looks and feels like black magic - you can organise and control mountains of (irregular) data e...

Re: The DevonThink 2.0 Public Beta...

yes as above ... cautious adulation

i'd still like to see a more customisable interface tho' - i'm going to request it. I'd like to be able to embolden the typeface of top level groups for example - but all the other stuff - smart groups, when i've worked out how to use it, is quite promising.

Devonthink is great - which is why i want to see the dull and dreary interface brought up to date - but I aint holding my breath anymore.

Re: DevonThinking...

does anyone here (and this is not trolling - if I were going to do that I would head over to the Devon forums_) and I value the opinions of Scrivener users, which is why I'm asking, does anyone here still seriously think that Devonthink 2 will ever appear?

Re: Tinderbox

just a thought on 'harvesting' data into DevonThink, Tinderbox, or wherever. I got a copy of iClipboard bundled with the latest SOHO Organiser upgrade. It's available as a standalone app. too. it sits off the bottom left edge of my screen, and offers an unlimited number clipboards - . You can also h...

brainstorming

i have NovaMind - but it tends to sit in my applications folder - looking pretty. I've read Tony Buzan. I constantly extol the virtues of mind-mapping to my often less than convinced students, and i love NovaMInd's elegant interface. I just don't use it. On the other hand, OmniOutliner is the app. i...

why use a blog?

that's a bloody good question. I think for freelance journos like myself, it can be a good way to keep your writing skills honed, it can also provide a kind of test lab for writing ideas. but it can also be a time consuming diversion and my earlier warnings about being distracted with refinements of...
