Re: New forum setup

Sorry for bumping, but. . . . Seriously, no one else has any problem reading the new forum font and color?. I don't mind the colors so much, but the extremely light font, and san serif, leaves me squinting, too. When I get tired of that, I just high-light each post. Somehow the white on black varia...

Re: NiaD 7: Lessons Learned

Maybe it's just me, but I always feel that genre novels involve a sort of contract with the readers. Certain things they have a 'right' to expect to be included or exclude. And if you are not even aware of those unwritten conventions, how can you possibly fulfill your end of it? But, yes, I suppose ...

Re: NiaD 7: Lessons Learned

4) I am really not widely-enough read to undertake such things. This, so much this. When I first came across NIAD I read the first book -- Horror. Fine! I like and read Horror, I could have contributed to that one. So I signed up for the second year, and the genre was SF -- Perfect! I've been inhal...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

Public apology to Piggy and all other contributors: Even though I signed up, and was very much looking forward to being a part of NIAD again, I failed to write a chapter. I totally forgot today was Saturday until about a half hour ago. I know that sounds unbelievably stupid, how can you not know wha...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

Where you *do* lose out is if you want to look at the Scrivener project I share after the event. It's being created in Scrivener for MacOS v2.8 this year, which slightly updated the project format to allow compatibility with Scrivener for iOS. As such, if your version of Scrivener is older than Jul...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

This isn't going to cut it, is it? Sure it will. Piggy sends you a PDF and you return an RTF. you don't even have to use scrivener if you don't want to. He's very accommodating. Dang. You've just blocked my attempt to weasel back out. And as to the build date on your scriv... don't worry about it. ...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

June is good for me -- fingers crossed that this one will be a genre I've actually read a book in. Um... I haven't updated my Scrivener in ages, out of fear of the difficulties some had with the process of converting existing files. I don't remember the details of what the problems were, exactly, bu...

Re: Who's in for NaNoWriMo 2016?

I'm *hoping* to get back to it. The last few years were wiped out by unexpected family deaths and health crises, which I sincerely hope have now gone by.

Re: Who's in for Nano 2015?

Woo hoo! I poked around on my hard drive and found a folder that was miscellaneous stuff I'd brought over from three computers ago, including a whole folder labeled 'story ideas never started.' :D Actually liked two or three, but there was one clearly best suited to Nano-ing. So now I have a genre (...

Re: Who's in for Nano 2015?

I keep wanting to...but so far I don't even have a vague idea. And for a confirmed plotter, that's not good. :( what's the worst thing that could happen if you 'pantsed' a novel? you'd get 50,000 words of something you didn't expect to write... I already tried that one year, and the result wasn't p...

Re: Guess the Genre! NIAD 2015

What the subject line says -- What do you think this year's genre will be? Rule: One guess only, none of this 'Well, maybe SF, but it could be Urban Fantasy, or maybe Cozy mystery." Nope. Pick your genre and plop your only coin down on it. My guess: Western. Yee-hah! I do NOT believe it! I nai...

Re: Guess the Genre! NIAD 2015

OOoh! Can I play? What do I win if I get it right? Uh. A NIAD t-shirt? I'm sure you need one. Beth, RDG... you guys taking part this year? Surely you keep all your weekends in October free just in case? I *want* to, but I've got an upcoming surgery (nothing life threatening) that's not yet schedule...
