Re: Scapple for Mac - Beta Testing Is Over

I just tried the download and it had expired. The original post should probably be modified to note that beta period is over.

Re: Moving an item out of a collection

Yes, you are correct. Looking back at it there were also a couple of bad spelling and grammar mistakes in my original post (just fixed them).

Re: Moving an item while in a collection

I should have stated this better. If you are viewing collection C which shows an item in folder A then moving that item to folder B while still continuing to view C.

Moving an item out of a collection

In my opinion moving an item out of a collection shouldn't move your viewpoint out of the collection and into the binder.

Long titles should show in index card view

I use long titles to help me distinguish between scrivenings. If you do a search the title is the only thing that you can see without selecting a scrivening. It would be nice if the title wrapped around in index card mode instead of being cut off.

Searching for a string in zipped projects

I'm not sure what happened (I probably accidentally deleted it or overwrote it) but there are some scrivenings that I can't find in my project. I have twenty five zipped backups and I think I can come up with a string that would select the scrivening I would want. I think the right approach is to 1....

Should notes be copied on split?

I split scrivenings fairly often which always creates a copy of the document notes. I end up deleting all the copied notes. I can see why always copying the notes would be the smart choice and if I were more careful I'd remember to check to see if there's info in the doc notes before doing a lot of ...

Search box could remember state on restart

If I'm searching only titles when I close the program it might be nice if it resumed that behavior on restart.

Re: Is it possible to combine search with directory location?

Thank you for the detailed reply. I've been trying to see if there's a way I can use the compile option to get what I'd like.

Is it possible using Compile to filter on more than one label? e.g. Can I have it include items labelled both "good" and "great"?

Is it possible to combine search with directory location?

Is it possible to find every scrivenings with the label "good" in the directory "foo"? (Hoisting the binder doesn't help.)

Is it possible to use the label like a filter so that I could navigate my directory structure and only see scrivenings with the label "good"?

Warning- Latest Mac software updates may break data transfer

I did not upgrade to Lion yet but this week I downloaded five of the Apple software updates. Today when I tried to send over my text via usb the customary select-your-keyboard assistant did not show. I tried pressing Send anyway but nothing happened. Of course this could be just something peculiar t...

Re: Recovery issue after using Time Machine

I was talking to a backup expert who had this to say: Time Machine uses hard links to store its backups of your files. It looks like Time Machine is storing all your files for each backup, but in reality all the unchanged files are just hard links to the same underlying file data as the previous bac...

Re: Recovery issue after using Time Machine

This was not done using the Time Machine interface. This was due to the fact the open project created permissions issues in Time Machine. I understand this leads to the possibility of a problem and that's why I went into all the details about the modified dates in the files and the number of files i...

Recovery issue after using Time Machine

I had a data synchronization issue with Scrivener a few months back and have been trying to recover a usable copy via Time Machine. As far as I can tell what I've recovered is a usable copy but it seems to get corrupted when I open it with Scrivener. It's possible that what I recovered only appears ...

Re: How do you turn off syncing?

Update: Just letting anyone in a similar situation know that in an emergency the dropbox team will rollback your entire account to an earlier date.
At this point though I'm not sure if doing that is enough to rewind problems caused by a bad sync.
