Thanks for your answers. The MacBook is recent, 2014. So I will keep my habit of maintaining it's batteries … :D

How To Kill The Battery of a MacBook

When I use my MacBook Air at my desk, I habitually connect it to the charger so I don't have to worry about the battery going low. Now, a friend of mine told me that by doing so, I will kill the battery prematurely for some reasons. Question to the black-belters: Is this true? And if so, what is the...

Re: Is Scapple still being actively developed?

With discipline a writer can just not use all the features that aren't useful. Just one word: Speed. Speed is the most important feature of all. Scapple is up and running while other, more feature-rich apps are still contemplating, and it is - due to it's simplicity - the only application I know (a...

Re: Is Scapple still being actively developed?

I discovered to my surprise that I have the marvelous yEd already among my applications. Version 3.4.1 from 2009. When I started it, I remembered playing with it long time ago, before I closed and forgot it. Because: way too complicated for what a writer needs. It's more like a hammer-with-screwdriv...

Re: Is Scapple still being actively developed?

Indeed, it's nice to have at least one piece of software that does not participate in the modern update-frenzy for update's sake. A software that is finished . Like a hammer. Today's hammers are, more or less, the same tools they were hundreds of years ago. New materials required minor updates, but ...

Re: OCR to recover an old MS?

It should be mentioned that Mr. Ken Follett, one of the most successful authors on this planet (and fully equipped computer-wise) swears by retyping manually the first version of his manuscript as a means to improve it . In fact, he considers this to be one of the key factors of his success, along w...

Re: Tracking Research Elements in Narrative

This is in fact the way Scrivener is intended to be used: One document in the draft folder for each scene of the novel. (Some use even smaller chunks.) This makes the text manageable. And the references are in the inspector (the pane to the right). Down in the bottom area of the inspector, there are...

Re: Tracking Research Elements in Narrative

If you keep all details in your research folders, broken down to one document per detail you want to incorporate, and you assign those "research" (it's not exactly research, but anyway) to the document references of the scenes in your draft where you make use of the information, the assign...
