Re: Footnotes created in Scrivener not showing up in Pages

Thank you, Mark, the footnotes work as you say they would. I have been trying to switch from Word to Pages as my final word processor since the latter is compatible with the comments feature in Word, and I need that to work with publishers (as far as I can tell, Nisus doesn’t have that feature). I j...

Footnotes created in Scrivener not showing up in Pages

When I use “compile draft” to make a Word doc from a draft with footnotes, then open that doc in Pages, the footnotes completely disappear. The footnotes show up when I open the same .doc file in Word. I have tried saving the Word file with footnotes, and then re-opening it in Pages, and the footnot...

Thanks. So it was staring me in the face all the time, like the purloined letter!

Numbered Sections

It would be nice to have the possibility for documents in the draft to have numbers instead of titles, and to autonumber themselves as they are moved around. Then the numbers could print in various forms (Arabic,Roman etc.) as section headings. Maybe someone has already suggested this, maybe it even...

Using Tinderbox and Scrivener

I find Tinderbox invaluable. I put all my notes into one large Tinderbox file, which enables me to find connections between different subject areas. Tinderbox also allows me various productive ways of developing an individual writing project. For example, I am currently writing a catalogue essay on ...

Thanks

Thanks, Keith, I really appreciate the effort you put in to making it possible to write footnotes in Scriv and exporting them in RTF, not to mention comments as well. I'll put in the request to Apple.

A bit of both

Thanks for making the suggestion so promptly. It’s a bit of both, reallly. For information, but also to highlight, drag out bits to re-use and so on, and I may well want to re-use a note. A link is probably the best solution for now.

Importing RTF docs with footnotes

It would be useful for me if imported RTF docs could preserve their footnotes, whether in Scrivener form, or their original form (even if readable only). For example, I would like to import other essays that I have written on a topic into the “Researchâ€

Using Tinderbox and Scrivener

Thanks, Amber, for the advice about importing from Tinderbox to Scrivener. Having set this off, I think I must leap to the defense of Tinderbox. It looks like it has a steep learning curve, but you can in fact do the simple and very helpful things first and leave the complicated stuff for later. For...

Importing from Tinderbox

Is there a good way to import notes from Tinderbox into Scrivener? I use Tinderbox for writing notes, organizing these into a structured outline, then adding text to the note body until I have a rough draft. Until now I have been pasting text from these notes into Word to write articles and books. I...
