Re: Markdown Styles, including "Emphasis"

Somehow Scrivener knows it’s italic, definitely doesn’t think it’s “Emphasis”, seems not to think it’s anything at all. Yeah, that’s the roots of it showing through, what is the basic formatting toolkit provided by NSTextView. The whole Style system is built on top of that (what you get in TextEdit...

Re: Option to "import research files as aliases" grayed out

There are no settings, but as with all importing in general, do make sure you aren’t accidentally telling the software to import into the Draft folder, which can only have text files and folders of text files imported into it. Research files, by definition, are not that. Try clicking in the binder b...

Re: Have Scrivener iOS questions

Do I have to have project files stored on Dropbox for the app to work? I’d rather open a zipped project backup or connect ipad to my network and open project on HD. I don’t have Dropbox myself, I do all project management through direct file management on the device, either with a cable or over WiF...

Re: Quick question about file size

A good strategy for a project that looks like it is going to bloat rapidly with research material is to adopt the use of links to the original files, stored outside of Scrivener. The File ▸ Import ▸ Research Files as Aliases... command is there to make that process simple. You may even be able to ex...

Re: Markdown Styles, including "Emphasis"

So I am happy and this seems to be what I “should” do, so long as I want also to be able to type plain old ## Heading ## whenever I care to. Yes? The style is basically doing the typing for you; the ultimate result is the same as if you typed it into the editor. That implies you can also type it in...

Re: Couple of questions

I’d say for most of the things you are referring to you would need to use a dedicated finishing and design tool to set this kind of stuff up—at the very least a word processor like Word (maybe Pages can do some of this). That said, the options for stuff like this are all found in the Page Settings c...

Re: Scrivener 3.0.3 and MMD to LaTeX Lists

Yes, quite right, I adapted the technique over to the template as well. It would be a little more straight-forward there, since one can seamlessly input LaTeX, the line prefix of \item could be followed by [something] and it would work fine. With MMD you’d still need to escape the label part. You mi...

Re: Upgraded to Scrivener 3.0.3 - LaTeX won't compile now

It would be a lot easier to download a copy of MMD5 and install that, which Scrivener will use instead of the built-in version. You can finish off your project with that installed, and then once you have some time to look into it, uninstall the local copy (or install the latest MMD6) and go from the...

Re: Scrivener 3.0.3 and MMD to LaTeX Lists

Hmm, okay. Well a while back I came up with a style I use for alphabetic lists (using the enumitm package). Basically if you take a set of lines and mark them with a style, Scrivener offers two options for compiling that style: wrapping the entire range in one prefix/suffix, and then each line withi...

Re: Syncing Scrivener on iOS takes a long time

We did not change anything in 3.0.3 that would have made an impact on sync times. My guess is that Dropbox may have done some optimisation to the API on their end. We discovered that the single biggest bottleneck was their command to grab a recursive list of folders. This problem was filed with them...

Re: Scrivener 3.0.3 and MMD to LaTeX Lists

MMD6 has a completely new parser, and it follows CommonMark spec more closely, so there are scattered things that just work differently. I came across a few things I had to adjust and do differently after switching over. Outside of the LaTeX boilerplate inputs, the main thing I recall having to chan...

Glad it was an easy fix! That's one aspect of MMD I don't know much about.

Re: Scrivener 3.0.3 and MMD to LaTeX Lists

I had noticed this as well and wondered what the point of the empty braces were. I’ve never seen any documentation anywhere that describes what would go into such a construct, and have never seen any examples that promote an empty structure. I’m not a guru though, and since it hasn’t messed anything...

Re: Scrivener 3.0.3 and MMD Citations

This wouldn’t be covered in our documentation as it not something that is generated by or manipulated by Scrivener in any way. It does appear to be a different in MMD output by version. I have both 5 and 6 installed, and just confirmed that. Test code: This is a test [10][#Author_2018] of cites. MMD...
