Re: How do people get through Submittable from their Iphone/Ipad? I'm having trouble .

Yes, all file operations will be easier on the MacBook Air, if only because Mac OS allows you to see exactly where things are. The iOS Files app is like looking at the file system through a keyhole, while Mac OS lets you open the door and walk right into the room.

Re: Safe to update to Mojave on September 24th?

Perhaps there is something in Mojave that will transform you, your work, or your life. Might make you a Nobel Laureate. Perhaps it can only be seen by you if you upgrade on 24 September. Would you want to miss out on that possibility? Of course, it might be in .3. No one can ever know. The world mi...

Re: Safe to update to Mojave on September 24th?

As a general rule, installing a new version of Mac OS as soon as it is released is often a terrible idea. I usually wait until at least the .1 or .2 release. Scrivener 2 was NOT compatible with the early Mojave betas. Apple has said Mojave will continue to support 32-bit applications, but I would re...

Re: How to change formats?

Note that there's nothing special about the supplied project templates. They don't do anything that you can't accomplish yourself by changing the settings for an existing project. For example, the difference between a "Novel" and a "Novel with Parts" is just an extra outline leve...

Re: Newbie Lost - Support Non Existent

If you have not received a response to a support query in a reasonable time, please check to make sure our email didn't end up in your junk mail folder by mistake.

Scrivener's basic approach has not changed in Scrivener 3. Our users seem to prefer to do things the way we do.

Re: Scrivener creating a .zip file everytime I quit the program

Perfect, I created an own folder for the backups which solved the issue! Thanks! To the new version - that's unfortunate that one has to pay to upgrade. I haven't seen that for any other program. I think you should only have to pay once for a program and get any updates for free. The last paid upda...

Re: [NB] Need update for Windows Beta 8 before Sept.30th please

I can't speak for the developers, but my guess is that the only reason we even had a "beta" (which I recall was considered more of an "Alpha" release) last December is because the Mac version 3 was ready, and Keith (the Mac developer and creator of Scrivener) wasn't about to del...

Re: Scrivener suddenly has lost its registration

If an existing and previously working license has abruptly failed, make sure that you have internet access. Scrivener periodically checks to make sure licenses are still valid, and if that check fails repeatedly it will eventually give an error message. If that doesn't help, contact support. Katherine

Re: Incompatible versions between Mac and Windows

The File -> Export -> Export as Scrivener 2 Project command in Mac Scrivener 3 will render your projects readable by the current Windows release version, which is 1.9.8. Windows Scrivener 3 uses the same project format as Mac Scrivener 3, so if you're not able to share projects between Mac Scrivener...

Re: Incompatible versions between Mac and Windows

Can someone from the development team comment here? I bought the bundle as I use both Windows and Mac machines, depending on where I am, but I can only really use the Mac version, taking into account this fundamental flaw. I love Scrivener to bits but coming from a dev background myself its poor to...

Re: Heirarchical Index Card View in Binder

That's sort of what I'm talking about, but, what I'd want is this displayed in the binder , so I could edit the documents in question in the editor while selecting them in the binder and creating Scrivenings. You can't do it in the Binder, but you can split the Editor, put the Outline in one half, ...

Re: Documet outside of project

what I do now is close my project, open the desired RTF file in WordPad and then just save it when finished. Next time I open .the project the revised file is there where it should be. what I would LIKE to do is keep the project open during this process, so that I can refer to other parts of my pro...

Re: New Scrivener install on iPad, won’t sync with laptop

I had the same problem. I found it was the name I was using for the project on my PC was too complex. Once I removed all the extra (example HQ.v1.3) to (HQ) everything worked fine. For future reference, replacing the periods with underscores probably would have worked as well. Periods are meaningfu...

Re: Import Format not working as expected

How is Scrivener supposed to know how to assign Section Layouts? If the import was successful, the formats are there. But the whole point of Scrivener 3's distinction between Section Layouts and Section Types is to break Scrivener 2's connection between the formatting and the structure of the projec...

Re: Problems with Compile Function

Have you looked at Word technical support?

If the file displays correctly in Word on your system, but not on another system, that's not a Scrivener issue.

In particular, Word's auto-formatting commands can do all kinds of interesting things if allowed free rein.
