Re: Syncing Scrivener on iOS takes a long time

You definitely want to resolve those conflicts in the main Scrivener project. It's very likely that they are contributing to your difficulties. Are you able to do so with Scrivener's own conflict resolution tool? Also. 5300 files in the Binder? Yes, it would be completely normal for checking a proje...

Re: Automatically Open Scrivener 3 in Full Screen Mode

You can't.

The reason is that making the full screen setting persistent reliably caused crashes in an earlier version of Scrivener. The problem was ultimately traced to Mac OS, and we decided it was safer to simply not try to remember the full screen setting.

Re: Scrivener won’t sync to dropbox

I second lunk's question about how you know the project isn't syncing.

One way to investigate the question is to create a test project, then check the original device, your Dropbox account (via a web browser), and each synced device to see exactly where the changes *don't* appear.

Re: Syncing Scrivener on iOS takes a long time

On the Mac, please locate the project in Finder, right-click, and select the option to Show Package Contents. In the top-level folder, you'll see a file called ProjectName.scrivx. Are there any other files in that folder? Especially any with names like "Conflicted Copy of..." ? Reviewing t...

Re: Cannot open Scrivener 3 projects on iOS

The most common cause of this error is incomplete synchronization. Either the project wasn't completely transferred from the desktop to Dropbox, or the sync between Dropbox and the iOS device failed. The problem can often resolve itself once the pieces of the project have been reunited.

Re: Syncing Scrivener on iOS takes a long time

I suspect that the conflicts are a contributor to the slow down. Therefore, I would suggest moving the project out of the Dropbox folder on the desktop system, and making sure all conflicts are resolved. Then, delete all versions of the project from all Dropbox- connected devices (leaving the non-Dr...

Re: Is Scrivener for Windows Falling Off

Scrivener originated on the Mac, and the Mac version has a five year head start over the Windows version. That's just historical fact. But the goal of Windows Scrivener 3 is to fix that and achieve parity between the two platforms.

Re: Problem loading old project in both V2 and V3

You shouldn't need to "import" a Scrivener 2 project, you should just be able to open it from the standard file chooser. If you look there, and it's still grayed out, do you still have Scrivener 2 installed on your system? It's possible that Mac OS hasn't re-assigned the "owner" ...

Re: All research is GONE

I keep a backup for a good reason. And nope, all the material is gone in the file that went back and forth. No problem. Made a backup of the backup... and looking into importing all that to Evernote, notebooks, any system that I can keep the research nice and snug. Hell, I might just copy the whole...

Re: How do I bookmark a specific line or paragraph of text?

Bookmarks and comments are two different features. You can associate a comment with a specific line of text by putting the cursor there and using the (Scrivener 3) Insert -> Comment command. Bookmarks can only be associated with documents, not individual lines, and are discussed in more detail here:...

Re: Is Scrivener for Windows Falling Off

Why on earth would a company encourage the general public to try out a version that almost certainly has bugs that they themselves think are major enough to endanger important projects? Yes, exactly. The existence of the Windows beta is evidence that Scrivener for Windows isn't being abandoned, as ...

Well yes, I would expect to see a lot of interest in the Mac version a week after a major update. So you might have missed the simultaneous announcement of the Windows Scrivener 3 public beta. More information can be found here: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=40621 ...

Re: Weird behavior on Composer mode

Composition mode does not create another desktop, it pulls a "curtain" over the one where it is invoked. (Why? So that you can fade the background to see notes and other research materials if needed.) So when you click on another window, Scrivener assumes that bringing that window to the f...

(And my backing on other areas of the drive saved me, I do have a backup of the backup, but working across devices is not going to happen until you fix this little issue) This is *why* we encourage people to have backups. This. It's fine to have both versions installed, and in fact I've been encouraging people to do so while they get comfortable with Scrivener 3.
