Loading Preferences after a computer fail

I'm in the midst of a complete computer re-install after it crashed I'm trying to set up Scrivener as it was and transferred the Applications Support folder from my on-line backup to replace the newly installed one. When it comes to preferences, I'm not in a position to Save and Load Preferences so ...

Re: Does Scrivener have an optimum dpi?

Thanks for the advice. I'd not thought of Retina displays but one of those will have to wait until I've sold my first best-seller, I think :D. For now I'm looking at a BenQ VA display that gives excellent contrast and also has eye-care technology like a matte screen with anti-flicker and low blue li...

Does Scrivener have an optimum dpi?

Because I have little understanding of things like monitors and software design, this question may be illogical. But the reason I ask it is because I want to upgrade from my seven year old 17" Acer VGA monitor to something around 22", the reasons being better sharpness from a digital image...

Adjusting Position of Files/Folder in the Binder

I should know the answer to this but I've not looked at Scrivener in a couple of years. If a folder or file is created in the Binder but is not in sync with the rest of the folders or files, is there a way to move it horizontally to where it should be?

Re: Crashes when editing

Thanks Brian. Actually . . . stupid of me. Initially I never thought of rebooting but had to do so anyway and that fixed the problem. Yosemite tempted me, although other than graphics it has nothing I want/need, but I foresaw problems and now that I've created a Bootcamp partitio,n upgrading becomes...

Crashes when editing

After not using Scrivener for some time, it is now completely unstable and I've experienced a long line of crashes, initially when I expanded it into all available space on the screen using the green button. But now it crashes when I attempt to edit anything using the delete or backspace buttons or ...

Re-installing Scrivener

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere but I've not been able to find it. I've had to do a clean install of Maverick. After installing Scrivener, what files or folders do I need to rescue from the backup I made in order to return Scrivener its previous state. Many thanks.

Choice of Backup location for each project

I've not been keeping up-to-date with the forum for months now so excuse me if this has already been covered. I'm currently working on several Scrivener projects and, as far as I can see, it's not possible to use a separate backup folder for each project without repeatedly changing backup preference...

Working with Serenity Editor

Having tested virtually every Grammar/Spell Checker I can find, Serenity Editor (http://www.serenity-software.com/pages/home.html) leaves the competition standing. Frankly, it has no peers that I can find. Not only is it successful in correcting spelling and unseen grammar mistakes, it will also hel...

Re: Changing single quotes to double

Thanks for your replies . . . but I'm afraid you assume too much of my knowledge. You lost me at regex. If you could explain more simply it sounds like a helpful idea.

Re: Changing single quotes to double

Thanks. Sounds like a lot of work. It would be just as easy to leave things as they are and speed through anything that Editor comes up with that lies within quotation marks. I wish I'd know that Editor's creator would introduce this useful facility when I first starting writing this book. Maybe I'l...
