Re: Lost Folder Contents

Great! That fixed it. I wasn't aware of Cmd-1. Maybe I need to read the manual. Thanks. In the middle of editing the final draft of a novel so that was a bit frightening.

Lost Folder Contents

I updated to Version 3.1.1 (running on Sierra) a few days back and all of a sudden I have lost folder contents. That is to say, the binder looks normal and shows the individual files (scenes) within a chapter which open fine but click on the chapter folder itself or the manuscript folder and they ap...

Most Recent Backups

So the folder you use for storing backups doesn't get bloated you can select in Preferences to keep only the most recent backups, the choice being 3,5, 10 or 25. But if you elect to do this and you have say four projects in Scrivener but are only working on one of them for any length of time, isn't ...

Re: Changing Novel Name

Thank you both. 'Save As' works for me because it puts the right name at the top of the project as well as saving backups with the new name.

Initial thoughts on Scrivener 3

I've just found a way to upgrade my old Mac to Sierra, mainly so I could buy Scrivener 3. I've just installed it today and haven't found my way around it fully but have some initial thoughts. What attracted me most about the update was the Linguistic Focus facility for Direct Speech which works real...

Changing Novel Name

How do I go about changing the name of the project, the novel's name, and also the name for the backups? I sit day after day working on a project that has the wrong title at the top. It's probably very straightforward but I'm afraid of doing something wrong.

Transferring Scrivener to a new computer

I'm sure this has been covered before but I'm coming back to Scrivener after a long break and don't know my way round. In order to run Scrivener 3 I'm upgrading my computer which won't upgrade further than El Capitan . Currently I'm running Scrivener 2.8.1.2. First I want to set that version up on t...

Loading Preferences after a computer fail

I'm in the midst of a complete computer re-install after it crashed I'm trying to set up Scrivener as it was and transferred the Applications Support folder from my on-line backup to replace the newly installed one. When it comes to preferences, I'm not in a position to Save and Load Preferences so ...

Re: Does Scrivener have an optimum dpi?

Thanks for the advice. I'd not thought of Retina displays but one of those will have to wait until I've sold my first best-seller, I think :D. For now I'm looking at a BenQ VA display that gives excellent contrast and also has eye-care technology like a matte screen with anti-flicker and low blue li...

Does Scrivener have an optimum dpi?

Because I have little understanding of things like monitors and software design, this question may be illogical. But the reason I ask it is because I want to upgrade from my seven year old 17" Acer VGA monitor to something around 22", the reasons being better sharpness from a digital image...
