Re: An online save folder (eg: Drive/Dropbox)

Over time, the use of Dropbox has been proven to be quite reliable as a location to keep your projects while you work on them. Just install the dropbox client program on your computer, and then move your entire project (on Windows, that's the .scriv folder and all its contents) to the Dropbox folder...

Re: Lay-out

Scrivener version three (currently in beta testing) will have "Quick Reference" windows for binder documents that you can open separately from the main interface. Individual windows will be able to display inspector panes for that document, plus project-wide "bookmarks". What you...

Re: Save, backup, sync help?

First of all; a backup is a copy from which you can recover data if something goes wrong with your main document, such as "oops, I accidentally selected everything and hit delete!". Second, Scrivener creates automatic backups specifically for that contingency (and other, less dramatic ones...

Re: Is Literature & Latte trying to force us to Mac's?

"Be polite" is the rule of these forums: http://literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=40997 We do sometimes stray from that rule when things get heated, but this isn't "the internet." This is a privately run forum, where it's absolutely acceptable to ask that peop...

Re: Save, backup, sync help?

Backups are not the way that you sync with iOS Scrivener. Assuming that you can create a new project on your iOS device, and see it appear on your Mac, in the Dropbox folder, then you have the sync set up correctly. Just move projects to that folder and work from there on your Mac, following the gui...

Re: Video files location

To clarify: It's in the project folder, not in the Scrivener application. If you have it loaded to an editor, there should be a button in the bottom of the editor frame that will open the video in an "external editor". Using that, you can, if you want, use the save-as feature of that progr...

Re: Question on Beta Expiration

At this late stage, I doubt they'll be doing that; I think the whole point of the export from the Mac version was to make it easier to use v3 for Mac while sharing your projects with Windows v1. And once they do release v3 for Windows, I don't see them maintaining that export option on the Mac side...

Re: Question on Beta Expiration

Shortly before the deadline (anywhere from a couple of days to a few hours), there will be a new update on the main announcement post here: http://literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=40621 You may also be able to use the Help->Check for Updates menu before the expiration, but you'l...

Re: Convert markdown

Ah, I was totally wrong. I didn't try it myself, and thought that it would allow markdown conversion with custom section separators, but now I see that the markdown conversion option is disabled when you specify separators.

Sorry.

Re: Convert markdown

Or choose the second split option, but in the box, type in a string of characters that don't ever occur in your document, such as !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!##################$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$#############. It won't find that long set of characters and so it won't split the document.

Re: Making pages start at #1 after Front Matter (not #2) +plus correct font for page numbers?

Could you start by pointing out which compile preset you're using, which section layout you've linked to which section type, and what section types you've assigned (or allowed to be assigned by default) to front matter and the first chapter folders/documents? That'll go a long way toward getting a c...

Re: Manual Scrivener 3

Here you go: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/learn-and-support/user-guides You'll want to create a fresh tutorial project too, because they've marked text and even entire sections as not yet implemented within it, which mostly includes compile settings. It'd be a shame if you got frustrated over ...

Re: How to add some text to Scrivener without Scrivener?

For a single project, you could use "sync with external folder" on just one file in the project. I believe there's a plain-text and an RTF option for that. For all projects, there's a way to put the Scratchpad into a folder of your choosing, and I believe that can be edited outside of Scri...

Lest Lit & Lat be dinged for the comments or tone of other users, I should point out that Devin is not an employee of the company, he's just another customer like you or me. Also, they DID delay the Mac os release, as I see it. The private Mac v3 beta didn't get released to sell until the Window...

Re: Transfer from one computer to another.

Do you have a USB drive of any kind (like the USB sticks that you can keep on your keychain)? If so, I'd do this: ⋅ Insert the thumb drive on the computer with the project on it. ⋅ Open the scrivener project, and then go to File->Back Up->back up to... choose the .zip compression...
