It’s Jacob Rees Mogg, isn’t it? And dogs, and Vaseline, and the Dead. I knew it.

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

Just to say thank-you to Rog for another splendid evening's entertainment. Or late-evening's entertainment; I was away unexpectedly and didn't get the stuff until about 6pm & didn't start writing until *checks Get Info box* nearly 11pm. Which is why it is very scratchy and rough; unforgivably so...

Re: Hide a file from Scrivenings view

What is between "A" and "B" that we cannot see at the moment? It might even be six levels of hierarchy between the two. Does the dropped item get placed next to "A", six levels deep, or right above "B" back at the top level? Ah, yes. The FoldingText Pit of Do...

Re: Hide a file from Scrivenings view

The “Include in Compile” feature is in fact probably the best way to go about this. I’m not sure what snarls you ran into with it before, One snare of Include in Compile is precisely that an unchecked item is not visually identified, in the binder, as being excluded from compile. When unchecking an...

Hide a file from Scrivenings view

Something I *wish* I could do -- at least 5 times a week -- but don't think I can. Yet. It's the great feature (for me) of the nice, full-of-promise Movie Draft SE (which seemed to stall in development, alas): HIDE SCENE. In Movie Draft, you'd right-click on the relevant scene summary card in Movie ...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 5: Go Set A NiaD

First draft done finally! 3,025 words! ... Running through a quick edit and then sending it off. I'm also proudly stating that I tossed in an almost-gunfight and a gorram. Mouhaha. I was supposed to have put in a gunfight but didn't. I cut straight to the afterglow. Comes from doing films, I suppos...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 5: Go Set A NiaD

Reading this forum is nearly as enjoyable as pretty good sex. This is disturbing kind of meiosis. The years fall away and I am back with the girlfriend whose vocalisations during sex could best be described, on a particularly good day, as praising with faint damns. (She once, in what I had believed...

Re: Move rather than copy files into Scrivener

Exactly what I've been doing (I assume "delete them from the binder" is a typo for "Finder") -- I just wondered if there was a more direct way. A bit like the DevonThink Pro "import and delete" Folder Action

Move rather than copy files into Scrivener

With the usual caveat that I may be being very stupid... I have a large number ("a whole bunch", to be precise) of mp3 voice recordings which I am transcribing in Scrivener. It's cumbersome to have to go to the Finder and delete the ones I've finished with. Ideally I could *move* rather th...

Re: What if I Wrote & Nobody Bought?

The last 150 years of the commercialisation of literature -- in the broadest sense -- will, I think, be seen by our posterity as a bit of a blip. Write like Hesiod, Aeschylus, Juvenal, Pliny, Donne, Herbert and all the rest: for the hell of it. Or you can refuse to be a part of this tragic downturn...

Re: What if I Wrote & Nobody Bought?

Nobody will buy it. Almost nobody. Stephen King probably gets about 0.05% of the literate English-speaking population. Nobody reading your stuff is passive rejection. People reading your stuff and saying it's no damn good is active rejection. It's a question of how you respond. I had a stinker of a ...
