Re: How to use Title Page <$projecttitle> and others

By "Contacts" I now assume you mean the Contacts from within my Mac's desktop contacts. In that case, I haven't overridden anything on that (which is likely why it was pulling my name into the header even though I never put it in the document itself). I still need to figure out where to up...

Re: How to use Title Page <$projecttitle> and others

That does help. Thank you. Do you know how to find the contacts book and/or its preferences? It looks like I can change a lot in the meta data settings, but there is still some stuff that shows up in the headers of Undergraduate Humanities Essay template (for instance) that doesn't show up in meta-d...

How to use Title Page <$projecttitle> and others

I'm doing a school paper and the title page looks like it has a cool feature that will place my project title, full name, and school name (I think), but I have no idea how to use this. Please help, as I know I need to use it for one of my papers because it impacts the header that appears on each pag...

How to use auto headers for academic paper

Sorry I'm probably using the wrong terminology, but I am completely lost. I am doing an academic paper, and it says things like {$class_name} or something like that (as well as a few other things that look like placeholders) on the title page. I cleared that out and wrote my information in there, bu...

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

Thank you both. I get it now. This makes a lot of sense, and now I can see how I can actually accomplish both having the backup and being able to work fairly seamlessly on the same "Letter to Joe" doc. I've done this with some other things where I've had to email a doc back and forth and e...

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

Wow, such a quick, detailed response! Thanks. The "cloud-based Scrivener option" I was talking about was one native to Scrivener (much like Simplenote has its own native cloud). This would require a lot less moving parts/opportunities for me to foul things up. :D The confusing part of the ...

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

I am thoroughly confused by the directions posted regarding using Dropbox to sync between two Macs. Here is the link: https://scrivener.tenderapp.com/help/kb/cloud-syncing/using-scrivener-with-cloud-sync-services (I use my big iMac at home and have a MacBook I take with me to the office and on the r...

Re: Footnotes at bottom of page

Now that I see it, I fixed it. Wow. Thank you. I didn't even know where those settings were. I REALLY appreciate your help. I'm relieved and comforted knowing that I'm doing this right. :)

Re: Footnotes at bottom of page

It compiled them as endnotes. :(

I exported as docx and opened with Pages. Attached is a screenshot of my settings on compilation.

Re: Footnotes at bottom of page

Here's another example, one of the full page with two footnotes. Sorry for the size.

Footnotes at bottom of page

I've been searching more than an hour (including reading 15 pages of the manual) and cannot find a definitive answer to how to ensure my footnotes actually appear as footnotes (on the bottom of the page) when compiled for my editor (and eventually for the layout editor) rather than as endnotes. Ever...
