Re: Is Switching From Windows To The Mac Easy To Do

I have been using Windows machines since 1.0, and MS-DOS before that. Fifteen years ago I had to use a Mac for a while, at work, but never got used to it. Didn't like it. But after having had an iPhone for a few years and then an iPad I decided to switch, and have never looked back. My experiences f...

Re: Lost Backup FIles

I no longer use the Windows computer with tower on which I wrote it, but transferred the file to my MacBook Pro in 2017. The second is a second draft, put away for a year while I finished a new book. A detail: In Windows your project is the whole .scriv folder , not a file. on a Mac that very same ...

Re: Closing a Project

To close a Project on the iPad I just tap back to <Project screen, and that closes the Project I'd been working on the same as if I'd clicked the familiar red circle on a Mac Window? Yes, that’s exactly what Jim wrote... So assuming you are in a project, from the Binder screen, in the upper left co...

Re: Seeking Advice - Apple or Windows PC

One question. Will Vellum run on a MacBook Air 2017 or 2018? My Macbook Pro 13" is from spring 2013 and it was not top notch even then, but it still runs everything I use. Tested Vellum two years ago bit didn’t like the way it limited what I could do so I finally formatted everything in Scrive...

Re: Syncing Scrivener on iOS takes a long time

none of my Mac:s can access my iCloud Drive since 6 month It sounds like you may be having an issue with iCloud. PH20537 should help, or you can Contact Apple Support directly. You're running the latest operating system on the latest hardware, so there should be no barrier to finding a solution. Th...

Re: Syncing Scrivener on iOS takes a long time

Do you always need all your projects available on the iPad? Everything you have ever written?
The "unified library" is the key argument for me not to use Ulysses. And since none of my Mac:s can access my iCloud Drive since 6 month I am very glad I have all my writing in Dropbox.

Re: All text in "Text" element lost when computer shut down

I had a few thousand words in that area, and now I have to rewrite it all. - - - how can I prevent this in the future other than not using Scrivener while on battery power? Split your text in smaller chunks. You can have each paragraph in its own document in Scrivener. And close your project every ...

Re: Italics lost when pasted with "paste and match style"

... but instead of doing that you could simply paste the text and at a later stage change its looks, by telling Scrivener to "Convert -> Text to default formatting The text in the editor can have any fonts and sizes. It doesn't affect the output, the result from Compile. Scrivener is not a wysi...

Re: Scratch Pad on iOS or alternative workaround?

The Scratch Pad is simply a folder with text files. You can view the content using e.g. Apple’s Files app or the more developed third party FilesApp, and then copy-paste knto iOS Scrivener.

I use the Drafts app to capture ideas and send them to the ScratchPad which I have on Dropbox.

Re: Italics lost when pasted with "paste and match style"

I would expect all formatting to disappear if you match style. The text you paste assumes the exact format of the text into which you paste it. Right?
