Re: How do you customise OS X like this?

Looking through my Google alerts I came across this screenshot of Scrivener: http://www.flickr.com/photos/33851568@N08/3380548662/sizes/l/in/set-72157615731282333/ I see a lot of screenshots of customised OS X interfaces in one of the Mac mags (I can't remember which), and I've always wondered: how...

Re: Applejack

Fantastic little program. I actually donated some $$ to the developer so he could purchase an Intel Mac Mini and rewrite AppleJack.

Probably the best donation-ware money I ever spent.

Re: Diamond

It is an interesting concept. I don't care for the way it auto hides all other apps and leaves them hidden after it quits.

EDIT: This has been addressed in the 3.4 update.

The same developer also has a neat, simple doc management app called Sapphire that might be worth checking out.

Re: New poll: What's your favorite word processor?

I generally use JeditX for simpler projects and notes. I like the tabbed interface and I don't need to fuss with formatting too much when writing. I also don't need to be concerned with umpteen features I don't currently need interfering with the writing process. When I need to format I'll use Word ...

Re: Firefox 3.0

Been using happily since B3.

This version is really quite good. Safari would require some very neat tricks to tempt me back.

I'm thinking of selling mine as well.

Pitiful for a company with the resources of Microsoft.

Re: MS Office 2008 Offer for Friday 11/23

Hi, I'm not sure what other's experience has been with this "deal" but mine hasn't been so good. I keep getting emails from MS telling me my copy of office is on backorder, and they push back the ship date. Funny, the copies available for full retail sale aren't on backorder. I guess...

Re: Flying Logic Pro Coupon

I took advantage of this offer. I would not have been otherwise able to purchase the Pro version.

Thanks for making this possible and also for posting here.

Re: Microsoft Office 2008 Home Edition

There are a few good discussions of Office 08 over at ArsTechnica's Mac forum involving one or two of the MBU developers. Lots of good info/feedback. Worth a read, IMO http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8300945231/m/394008460931 http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8300...

Safaris webarchives are, of course, far better than that. So, I am happy with it.

I should note that I can only use FF because of webarchive capture via Yojombo. Otherwise FF's native capture mode is terrible and pdf printing yields strange formatting atrifacts.

YMMV

I tend to go back and forth. Safari is not nearly as useful as FF to me without the 3rd party plugins. Unfortunately, they often cause stability issues. Safari is much nicer looking, renders better (IMO) and is more Mac like (of course) but it will stop loading pages and has strange UI glitches afte...

I don't like it because, while it's easy to get info in, as long as you use FireFox, it's not as easy to get it out in the event you'd like to use something like Bookends, Papers, DevonThink etc.

It's a great idea and, if you are happy with that alone and FF, it might kick butt.

YMMV.

Nice to see the icekey switchers here, enjoyng themselves. I recently switched to Apple's Al wireless kbd. Great diesign, not very robust as it is my third one n 4 months, When it works well, it works very well.

Grabbed another 24" monitor so my Dell has a daily 24 playdate.
