editing index card in corkboard

Hello Scriveners, Haven't been able to find an answer to this in the forum or the help. I cannot create a new line with Return in an index card on the corkboard. Is this expected behavior? New line using Return works fine in the Inspector index card and shows up on the corkboard, but does not work w...

Re: No Scrivener Links from QuickRef?

I just opened Scrivener again this evening to try the Scrivener link in a QR window another time. This time I get the same result as MM's Scenario two: First the Scrivener link contextual menu items are grayed out. Then, after a click in the editor pane and another click back to the QR window, the l...

No Scrivener Links from QuickRef?

Just tried to create an internal Scrivener link from a QuickRef window. No luck. :( 1. Selected a word in a table in the QuickRef window to be the link origin. 2. Right-clicked the selected word to bring up contextual menu. 3. Selected Scrivener Link from that menu and then chose a document within t...

Re: error (beep) switching from Scrivener to Bookends

Hi KB, Yes, Scrivener is definitely active when I try the shortcut. I did a little more checking after I posted the first message above. The loss of the keyboard shortcut has something to do with using the arrow keys in Scrivener. When I paste in the citation from Bookends (Command-y) to Scrivener, ...

error (beep) switching from Scrivener to Bookends

Hi all, Just learning Bookends and have a curious problem switching from Scrivener to Bookends after the first switch. Scrivener just beeps at me when I try to switch to Bookends the second time with the keyboard shortcut. The menu command works fine every time, but the keyboard shortcut for the Bib...

Re: Ghost mode not working in 1.51

I just installed 1.5.1, and notice something similar. Annotations seem to work correctly with Ghost Notes Mode, i.e., both the text and the surrounding bubble are scaled back according to the opacity slider in preferences. However, not so with footnotes. The footnotes bubble is more transparent but ...

Re: What slows a Mac down?

Sometimes I have a process that grabs a lot of CPU cycles on my machine (iBook G4 running Mac OS 10.4 Tiger, with 1.5 GB ram). Then everything turns to molasses: lots of spinning beach balls, programs are very slow to launch or respond to mouse clicks, etc. You can check what programs (usually hidde...

footnote formatting

Keith wrote: Given that most users tend to use the same font for the footnotes as they use for the main text, this is not often a problem. Where it is, I am afraid you will have to edit it in a dedicated word processor. Actually I also use the same font for the footnotes as for the main text. I gave...

footnote problems

Hi Antony, You wrote: John: The font substitution thing is odd, but the remainder of the font identification problems you're having may simply be Word's fault. I might have thought the same thing, but NeoOffice has similar formatting problems with Scrivener's footnotes. I didn't elaborate the NO iss...

Hi Keith, Here is more about the footnote formatting problems that I mentioned regarding the previous beta. First of all: Helvetica footnotes are gone. Yay! Thank you. Other aspects of footnote formatting are still pretty odd in Scrivener 1.08b after draft export to Word 98 or NeoOffice. To understa...

You might also wish to try AutoPairs, which creates pairs of items, like quotation marks, with a single keystroke. You can find it here:

That crazy footnote formatting was driving me batty.

When do you expect the next version to be available?

odd formatting of footnote in draft

John Robert wrote When I search for Helvetica in the rtf export file, Word identifies the font of the last one or two paragraph markers as Helvetica, although the words themselves preceding the marker are Courier or whatever I've defined in the Draft Export dialog. I should have explained that I mea...
