Re: Screenwriting; adding scenes automatically

This may seem unfamiliar for anyone coming from something like Final Draft - it was for me - but actually the way Scrivener handles things is much more flexible. Instead of having individual cards for each scene with the title being the scene it's best to think of cards as potential groups of scenes...

Re: How do you set default indents, font etc for all documents?

A feature request for a future update for Windows would be some option, like the Mac version wrap, which gave a shorter line length in the editing view. On a 15 inch laptop it's impossible to use the current line length which is just too long to be readable. I created a custom layout which shrinks d...

Strange behaviour with Samsung Software

I just got asked to run an update for Samsung Support Centre for my new laptop (Easy Support is the Samsung app which updates drivers and stuff). As the laptop prepared to install the update the Scrivener uninstall routine kicked in. I assumed this must have been a mistake on my part so cancelled it...

Re: Windows 8 app store

Ah - I think you're right. The app store will only be for apps that follow the Metro interface. Can't see Scrivener in that either. Thanks!

Windows 8 app store

Probably an impossible question but.... will the Windows version be available through the Windows store? If so does that mean it will work with ARM-based Windows tablet (which I think you look very interesting actually)?

Re: Retina iPad & Scrivener - Your words will look amazing

I've bought the new iPad (partly in anticipation of the Scrivener app). Having given up on iPad 1 I have to say it's a revelation. A lot of the software's much improved - Remarks is a pdf app that can do a very reasonable job of markup pdfs with a stylus/pen. And as Jenny says text, when apps suppor...

Re: Context 'how far am I through this manuscript' check

I have a slight fear of getting fiddly with documents in the Binder. I find it easy to move them by mistake sometimes and since there's no undo you can't easily go back. On the present project I shifted a scene from one day to another this way so I'm always a bit wary....

Re: Context 'how far am I through this manuscript' check

Thanks Jennifer. It did occur to me you could do things like that. The trouble is that once you have a massive document - and this is massive - it gets very fiddly dealing with lots of things in the Binder. I think I'll just have to live with it. I do the final revise in Word anyway since that's how...

Context 'how far am I through this manuscript' check

This is doubtless me being thick and there's probably an easy way round it. I just can't see it. I'm currently editing a 193K word MS divided into many different parts and scenes (the Killing II book for anyone interested). I would really like to know when I'm editing a scene how far I am through th...

Re: Writing a novel with Scrivener - David Hewson's new ebook

It really is a basic revise with the Windows shortcuts and a brief list of what the Windows app won't do. If you've got the hang of things with the earlier version it won't add anything I suspect. But I have asked Amazon again.

Re: Writing a novel with Scrivener - David Hewson's new ebook

They told me it was going out two weeks ago. Will nag them again. If you contact them directly they might be able to help. All I can do is ask them I'm afraid.

Re: Why Scrivener Doesn't Support Versions on Lion

The whole autosave revisions thing is a nightmare. I'm currently working on quite a sizable project in Final Cut Pro X (no save available at all). FCPX is the buggiest software I've seen come out of Apple in years. SImply dragging an image file in from the desktop can bring it down (on a 12gb latest...

Yes - that's the one I was thinking off. I have both Mac and Windows versions running side by side in this little video here by the way.

Re: Does iCloud mean anything to us at all?

I found Pages iOS ruins even basic desktop Pages files.... the current iCloud arrangement is nonsense for anyone using desktops. Oddly enough if you upload a desktop Pages file the cloud app can convert it to a Word version for download - ruining some formatting along the way for me. Useless.... unl...
